Project X Vs Project X LZ Shaft Comparison Overview

Project X Vs Project X LZ Shaft

Today, we will be taking a quick look at how the Project X compares to the Project X LZ shaft.

Project X  Shaft Overview

“The Project X shaft comes in regular, regular plus, stiff, extra stiff and extra stiff plus flex.”

There are also 110g, 115g, 120g, 125g, and 130g versions. The Project X has a stout profile compared to the Project X LZ.

It produces lower spin rates and lower launch. However, it can take a very heavy load and still keep you on the fairway.

The kick point is high in the shaft – pretty much just under the grip. You get excellent club head stability as well.

Project X LZ Shaft Overview

Project X LZ Shaft

“The Project X LZ shaft comes in regular, regular plus, stiff, and extra stiff flex. There are 110g, 115g, 120g and 125g weights available.”

While not much lighter than the Project X shaft, the LZ version has noticeably more “give.”

It flexes more and the kick point is closer to the middle of the shaft. Moreover, I definitely noticed more of a kick during my testing.

“The Project X is for faster swingers who need more control and balance. The Project X LZ is for players who want a smoother feel; but also a good amount of accuracy.”

Project X 5.5 First Impressions

At first, we thought the Project X 5.5 felt a little stout. However, when we paired them with our irons, they let up a bit as we worked down the set.

Key Features & Performance

The most important feature is easily the tapered tip. The tapered area runs longer for enhanced energy transfer from your swing to the ball.

Project X 5.5 Wedges Review

A great choice for wedges because the Project X 5.5 will afford you more accuracy where you need it the most: around the green.

Project X 5.5 Irons Review

We would recommend fitting all of your irons with the Project X 5.5 shaft. The progressive kick point will appeal to better players who will feel the load shift throughout the set.

Project X 5.5 Driver Review

If you are a faster swinger, you will want a stiffer flex than the Project X 5.5 offers.

Project X LZ First Impressions

Project X LZ Shaft2

We were first impressed by the fact that this is a lively shaft that still manages to be accurate.

The activity of this shaft can be felt on almost every kind of swing; but the dispersion remains consistently tight – a very impressive combination.

Key Features & Performance

Project X says they used something called “loading zone technology” for this shaft.

We’re not sure exactly what that technology actually is but we do know that the Project X LZ delivers on promises of smooth feel. You get the classic Project X feel in a shaft that is much more active.

Project X LZ Irons Review

Like the Project X IO shafts, the Project X LZ will help you attack the pin more aggressively.

Our testers were able to stick the green consistently on long par 4’s with these shafts.

Project X LZ Wedges Review

The ability to shape your shot at will really comes through in the wedges.

The Project X LZ maintains a smooth feel from tight lies and offers plenty of spin to hold fast greens.
