Project X 5.5 Vs Project X 6.0 Shaft Comparison Overview
In the following comparison overview, I will be describing the difference between the Project X in regular plus and stiff flex.
Project X 5.5 Shaft Overview
“In the True Temper universe, 5.5 flex translates to regular plus flex. The Project X 5.5 shaft weighs 110g.”
110g is a little lighter than I like my iron shafts to be but I must say, the Project X 5.5 performs well above its weight class.
Though my gamer shaft is 120g, I didn’t lose any accuracy with the Project X 5.5.
The kick point is high which is what I’m used to. And compared to the 6.0, I felt a little more acceleration through the ball.
Project X 6.0 Shaft Overview
“The 6.0 is a stiff flex shaft that weighs 120g.”
Again, the kick point is high with maybe a little more club head stability.
Although, the difference in club head stability could only really be felt when I was swinging out of my shoes.
Still, this shaft offers impeccable accuracy and stands up well to heavy loads.
“The Project X 5.5 offers a bit more speed while the Project X 6.0 is better for power swingers.”
Project X 5.5 First Impressions
At first, we thought the Project X 5.5 felt a little stout. However, when we paired them with our irons, they let up a bit as we worked down the set.
Key Features & Performance
The most important feature is easily the tapered tip. The tapered area runs longer for enhanced energy transfer from your swing to the ball.
Project X 5.5 Wedges Review
A great choice for wedges because the Project X 5.5 will afford you more accuracy where you need it the most: around the green.
Project X 5.5 Irons Review
We would recommend fitting all of your irons with the Project X 5.5 shaft. The progressive kick point will appeal to better players who will feel the load shift throughout the set.
Project X 5.5 Driver Review
If you are a faster swinger, you will want a stiffer flex than the Project X 5.5 offers.
Project X 6.0 First Impressions
I was instantly reminded of how stout this shaft feels as soon as I took my first swing.
There is no lag in this shaft. Instead, you can feel the club head keep up with you throughout your swing.
Key Features & Performance
The Project X 6.0 uses a progressive midsection stiffness profile which makes the performance more dynamic. It gives you more speed in the long irons and more control in the scoring irons.
Project X 6.0 Irons Review
Even in the more reactive long irons, you get excellent control and tight dispersion. These shafts are fairway finders for sure.
Project X 6.0 Wedges Review
Better players will certainly be able to achieve acute spin control in the stouter wedges.
Still, launch remains pretty low and hard to work upward.
