Grafalloy Prolaunch Red Vs Grafalloy Prolaunch Blue Shaft Comparison Overview

Grafalloy Prolaunch Red Vs Grafalloy Prolaunch Blue Shaft

The Grafalloy Prolaunch Red has seen success on the PGA tour and at the amateur level.

But the Grafalloy Prolaunch Blue is sort of the polar opposite in terms of performance. Both shafts have their place; but the question is which one deserves a place in your bag.

In the following comparison overview, we will be telling you who each of these shafts are for.

Grafalloy Prolaunch Red Shaft Overview

Grafalloy Prolaunch Red Shaft

“The Grafalloy Prolaunch Red is a 66g shaft that comes in regular, stiff and extra stiff flex.”

The consistent weighting across all three flexes is definitely a boon in my opinion.

It makes for more consistent performance and 66g is a nice mid-weight that will be congenial to more players.

The Grafalloy Prolaunch Red feels like a lighter shaft through transition though.

It is remarkably smooth and even though it certainly has a stout feel overall, it doesn’t make you work against it. Instead, it produces a low launch, low ball speeds and excellent rollout distance.

However, you need a fast swing speed to get the best use out of this shaft. Anything less than an 80 MPH swing will not generate adequate distance.

The Grafalloy Prolaunch Red also works best with a fast or aggressive tempo. That’s when you can feel the slight kick and maximize carry.

Grafalloy Prolaunch Blue Shaft Overview

Grafalloy Prolaunch Blue Shaft

“The Grafalloy Prolaunch Blue comes in ladies, amateur, regular and stiff flex spread across 44g and 48g weight versions.”

So not only do you get more flex options, they are much lighter than the Grafalloy Prolaunch Red shafts. This allowed me to get very good club head speed out of the Grafalloy Prolaunch Blue.

In fact, my club head speed with the Grafalloy Prolaunch Blue was 1 MPH faster than with the Red.

Launch, ball speed and spin were significantly higher as well. I personally didn’t like the 3200 RPM spin rates I was getting out of the Grafalloy Prolaunch Blue;  but that’s the trade-off for higher launch.

The Grafalloy Prolaunch Blue provided better stopping power; but less rollout distance.

“The Grafalloy Prolaunch Red is definitely the better shaft if you are swinging your driver 90+ MPH. It also provided tighter dispersion than the Grafalloy Prolaunch Blue.

The Grafalloy Prolaunch Blue is better for players with moderate swing tempos and get most of their distance through high launch.”

Why is it So Good?

For me, the Grafalloy Prolaunch Red was a good shaft because it gave me the feel of a more active shaft but didn’t lose that high-end performance that my swing speed requires.

This is definitely a must-try for players with fast tempos.

Grafalloy Prolaunch Red First Impressions

Grafalloy Prolaunch Red Shaft1

The first thing that came through in regards to the feel of this shaft was the feedback.

I could clearly feel exactly where I made contact with the face without having to look up at the ball.

Key Features & Performance

The Smart-Ply technology helps to enhance the stability of this shaft without adding too much weight.

At 66-grams, the Grafalloy Prolaunch Red is a mid-weight driver shaft that performs like a shaft 10-grams heavier.

Off the tee, the Grafalloy Prolaunch Red provides excellent feedback, tight dispersion and great overall distance.

Grafalloy Prolaunch Red Fairway Wood Review

The feedback gets a little muddled when you’re playing off the deck. Still, it’s very easy to hit a straight shot or a slight fade when you need to.

Why is it So Good?

Two words: lightness and stability.

This is a really impressive shaft that made us rethink what was possible for graphite driver shafts.

It doesn’t look great but it seems to transfer energy with almost no waste.

Grafalloy Prolaunch Blue First Impressions

Grafalloy Prolaunch Blue1

We weren’t fans of the silver and blue color scheme; but this was something we were able to get over pretty quickly.

It does pull focus at address a bit. However, we can imagine most players will be able to dismiss it.

Key Features & Performance

The addition of a stiff tip area was nice because it allows for more control and straighter shots.

The Grafalloy Prolaunch Blue will help you stay out of the trees – if that’s what you struggle with.

Who Should Buy it?

The Grafalloy Prolaunch Red would be ideal for the player who can maximize his/her distance through lower launch.

The distance isn;t the main star here though – it’s the accuracy. The Grafalloy Prolaunch Red can stand up to very strong loads and still provide tight dispersion.

The stiffer tip keeps everything in-line on an aggressive tempo swing so powerful swingers should absolutely try this shaft out.
