Grafalloy Prolaunch Red Shaft Review – Specs, Flex, Weight
The Grafalloy Prolaunch Red is the crown jewel of the Prolaunch series.
It is advertised to be the lowest-spinning and lowest-launching shaft in the Prolaunch series.
So naturally, it should appeal to stronger swingers seeking boring flight.
But after having tested this shaft for myself, there is a lot more to the story than what appears on the specs table.
In the following review, you will learn everything you need to know about the Grafalloy Prolaunch Red.
Grafalloy Prolaunch Red Shaft Overview
I really liked the color scheme of this shaft.
While most Grafalloy Prolaunch graphics don’t appeal to me (they remind me of those tribal tattoos that were trendy in the 90’s) at least the color scheme on this one looks nice.
The red is more like a crimson and it pops against the mostly silver background.
And the first thing I noticed about the feel of this shaft was that feedback came through as clear as a bell.
That shouldn’t be too surprising for a shaft that feels this stiff; but the Grafalloy Prolaunch Red takes it to a higher level.
Another thing that surprised me was how soft this shaft felt through impact.
During your downswing, you can tell that this shaft is smooth. The transition is anything but jarring and the release feels very controlled. But I can only describe the feel at impact as soft.
That was something I was not expecting from a shaft geared towards better players. But it was not a detriment in any way.
The Grafalloy Prolaunch Red feels like a lighter, livelier shaft but performs like the low-spinning, low-launching shaft it’s advertised to be.
The Grafalloy Prolaunch Red feels like it resists ovalling really well. The feel and performance remain remarkably consistent under a heavy or light load.
Why is the Grafalloy Prolaunch Red So Popular?
The Grafalloy Prolaunch Red is a smash hit among faster swing speed players because it feels exceptionally smooth while at the same time, producing that boring trajectory that such players seek.
Not to mention the fantastic consistency.
How Does the Grafalloy Prolaunch Red Perform?
Let’s start with some data. The Grafalloy Prolaunch Red was resulting in an average of 111 MPH club head speed with my test driver.
My average launch angle ended up being 10.8°. My average spin rate was 2300 RPMs. 111 MPH club head speed is about a 4 MPH increase over my average.
Overall, these were great numbers. However, I was a bit disappointed with my ball speed. It seemed like the increased club head speed simply wasn’t translating to ball speed.
However, I was able to coax good carry distance and great dispersion out of this shaft.
My average carry distance was 267.3 yards which doesn’t sound amazing; but the rollout distance was consistently in the 20 yard range. So my overall distance was consistently fantastic.
It was also very easy to get tight dispersion out of this shaft. Even on mis-hits my ball never veered more than 12 yards off-line. For the most part I was staying within 8 yards of the line.
I don’t know why the increased club head speed wasn’t producing faster ball speeds for me. Maybe the balls I was using didn’t have a low enough compression.
But it didn’t seem to impact my overall distance too much.
And as advertised, the Grafalloy Prolaunch Red produces a low, strong trajectory that climbs to its apex height very quickly and hangs there for a good amount of time.
Grafalloy Prolaunch Red Shaft Specs

What Flexes Are Available? What Swing Speeds Do They Suit?
Regular flex would be good for players in the 85-90 MPH swing speed range.
For players in the 91-95 MPH range, I would recommend stiff flex. 95-105 MPH swingers should try the Grafalloy Prolaunch Red in extra stiff flex.
What Weights Are Available? What Swing Speeds Do They Suit?
The Grafalloy Prolaunch Red is only available as a 66g shaft.
The consistent weighting across all flexes makes it viable for moderate to fast swing speed players. I would say anyone swinging their driver 80 to 105 MPH.
Why is it So Good?
For me, the Grafalloy Prolaunch Red was a good shaft because it gave me the feel of a more active shaft but didn’t lose that high-end performance that my swing speed requires.
This is definitely a must-try for players with fast tempos.
