Aldila Synergy Blue 60 Shaft Review – Specs, Flex, Weight

The Aldila Synergy Blue is a high-end shaft that promises top-flight performance and unparalleled stability.

The Synergy Blue series is comprised of multiple weight classes ranging from 50g to 80g.

But in this particular review, we will be focusing on the Aldila Synergy 60 specifically. This is the middle ground in terms of weight and I figured it would be the middle ground when it comes to performance as well. Read on to find out how the Aldila Synergy Blue 60 fared in our testing session!

Aldila Synergy Blue 60 Shaft Overview

Aldila keeps things simple with the looks of the Synergy Blue 60 shaft.

You get a deep blue base color that  is adorned with the “Synergy” lettering in a Tron-like font. The digitally angular “Graphene Infused” logo near the bottom of the midsection also reminds me very much of the Tron aesthetic. Maybe that’s what they were going for. But despite that very specific design niche, the Aldila Synergy 60 is not distracting in the least.

The Aldila Synergy 60 has a good kick to it that doesn’t exactly break the door down and throw you over its shoulder like a sack of potatoes. You can feel the action at the top of the swing; but there is a stoutness that  keeps it in check. Speaking of stoutness, I found that the Aldila Synergy 60 was indeed a nice middle ground between whippy and boardy. It doesn’t veer too close to any polar end. Instead, the action is controlled in the middle of the shaft.

The Aldila Synergy 60 has been reinforced with a Graphene tip section. Indeed, I could definitely feel the stiffness of the tip section which is something I actively look for in shafts these days. With my climbing swing speed, I need a stable tip section to help me control the driver head. The Aldila Synergy 60 suited my needs quite well on that front. Some other testers in the group reported that the Aldila Synergy 60 felt very reactive – meaning that the feel was dependent on how they swung. For me though, the Aldila Synergy 60 was more consistent.

Why is the Aldila Synergy 60 So Popular?

The Aldila Synergy 60 does a great job of keeping ball flight high enough to increase carry, but low enough to avoid ballooning.

And offers this kind of launch consistently which is something I love. I suspect the consistency has been picked up on by many other like-minded players which is likely what makes this shaft such a hit.

How Does the Aldila Synergy Blue 60 Perform?

The Aldila Synergy Blue 60 is advertised as a mid launch, mid spin shaft.

I found this to be true. And as I alluded to in the previous section, you can count on this type of performance on pretty much every swing. I really liked the shot window and shape that my drives were taking: high (but not too high) arcing, gentle draws that hung in the air marvelously – especially on stronger swings.

And we saw this type of flight across the board in our testing session. The great thing about the Aldila Synergy 60 is that it isn’t too heavy for slower swingers to get the same kind of results as faster swingers. Our sub 90 MPH testers were hitting the same high draws as those of us who have a 90+ swing speed.

The distance does vary depending on swing speed though. For those of us who average 90+ MPH swing speeds, the carry distance lived in the 265 – 275 yard range. For our sub 90 MPH testers, the carry distance was more like high 240’s to mid 250’s. Not bad overall but there was definitely a discrepancy.

What Weights Are Available? What Swing Speeds Do They Suit?

The 62g and 63g versions of the Aldila Synergy 60 are good for 75-90 MPH swingers.

The 64g and 65g weights are good for 90-100 MPH swingers.

Why is it So Good?

I use the word “controlled” a lot so excuse me if I sound like a broken record but this adjective applies especially to the Aldila Synergy 60.

The flight is beautiful: not too high, not too low. And I can say the same of the spin rates.

Aldila Synergy 60 First Impressions

I really liked the club head control afforded by the stiff tip section right away.

It allowed me to take my hardest swing without worrying about twisting.

Key Features & Performance

The tip is stiffened by Graphene platelets that are extremely strong and extremely thin. This allows you to control the path to an acute degree for very accurate results.

Aldila Synergy Blue 60 Driver Review

I found that off the tee, the Aldila Synergy 60 is more or less a point-and-shoot driver shaft. It’s effortlessly accurate.

Aldila Synergy Blue 60 Fairway Wood Review

From the fairway I noticed that our testers were still getting a relatively low ball flight which was good for some; not so good for others.

Who Should Buy it?

The Aldila Synergy Blue 60 is indeed a solid middle-ground shaft that bridges the gap between super-active lightweight shafts and super-stout heavy shafts.

As such, it has mass appeal. If I had to narrow it down though, I would say the Aldila Synergy 60 is an ideal match for players who need to increase their launch angle a bit but don’t want to sacrifice tight dispersion.
