Dynamic Gold 105 Review – Specs, Flex Weight
The Dynamic Goldline of shafts from True Temper has been a fan favorite for many years.
However, some golfers couldn’t really benefit from the Dynamic Gold shafts because many of them are “tour weighted.”
In other words, they were too heavy for slower swing speed players to really benefit from. But one of the most endearing things about the Dynamic Gold line is that it encompasses a wide variety of shafts in different flexes and weights.
If you are one of those players with a slower swing speed and you really want a Dynamic Gold steel shaft for your irons, you should take a close look at the Dynamic Gold 105 shaft. Even if you have considered using this shaft before, you may still have some questions about it. We would love to field those questions so join us as we explore the Dynamic Gold 105 shaft in the following review.
Dynamic Gold 105 Overview
The Dynamic Gold 105 shafts are a great option if you are ready to take a step up from graphite shafts on your irons.
The transition from graphite shafts to the Dynamic Gold 105 shafts is not jarring.
You get the same lightweight feel; but with better control and the accuracy you would expect from a True Temper steel shaft. The Dynamic Gold 105 has all the familiar characteristics of the Dynamic Gold line: a stiff tip area tempered by a less rigid butt area.
In many ways, the Dynamic Gold 105 is reminiscent of the KBS Tour Lite shaft – if any readers are familiar with it. The Dynamic Gold 105 produces a mid launch with moderate spin. You won’t have to have a ridiculously fast swing speed to unlock the accuracy and distance benefits that this shaft has to offer.
Why is Dynamic Gold So Popular?
One of the reasons this line of shafts has endeared itself to players of almost all skill levels is the fact that they feel incredibly smooth and at the same time, strong.
Most True Temper Dynamic Gold shafts feature variable wall technology which allows them to increase rigidity and reduce it in key places in the shaft.
In short, this means that the Dynamic Gold series of shafts is able to be used effectively by a wider variety of players.
How Does the Dynamic Gold 105 Perform?
When we took our irons fitted with Dynamic Gold 105 shafts onto the course, our testers were immediately taken with how light they were.
As the name gives away, these shafts are a scant 105 grams. Compare that with some other shafts in the Dynamic Gold line that can be as heavy as 137 grams and you can see that the Dynamic Gold 105 is really tailored to players with moderate swing speeds and tempos.
On the course, the Dynamic Gold 105 shafts produce a low to medium launch with moderate spin. We were very impressed with the tight shot dispersion. In fact, some of our testers were absolutely smitten with how easy it was to get a straight flight out of these shafts – even with their long irons.
Of course, straighter shots are likely to result in extra yardage and that was the case for almost all of our testers. The kick point feels a little lower than most of the other Dynamic Gold shafts we have tested which is probably why the launch is rather middling. But this is definitely a good thing if you tend to lose yardage because you are launching the ball too high.
