Aldila Rogue 60 Shaft Review – Specs, Flex, Weight
Aldila shafts are the stock shafts for some of the most coveted woods and drivers in the industry.
The company makes some of the finest graphite shafts available and the Aldila Rogue 60 is a fine entry into Aldila’s portfolio.
We got our hands on the Aldila Rogue 60 and plugged it into our test driver (a Ping G425) for a range session.
How did the Aldila Rogue 60 perform and who is it for? Find out in the following review.
Aldila Rogue 60 Shaft Overview
The Aldila Rogue 60 is available in three different profiles.
The Aldila Rogue 60 Black is their mid-spin entry, the Aldila Rogue 60 Silver is the low launch/spin version and the Aldila Rogue 60 White sits between the black and silver.
For this specific test session, we had the Aldila Rogue 60 White.
As you can imagine, this is a mostly white shaft. But the white finish transitions into a stark, black tip section.
So it isn’t as loud color-wise as other purely white shafts. Overall, it looks really cool and has a weight profile that matches its “fast” appearance.
The kick point of the Aldila Rogue 60 is near the grip section, leaving the tip to have a stiffer profile.
The action is clear and consistent. When we were taking full swings with the Aldila Rogue 60 we could feel that our swing energy was making it all the way into the ball.
The transition was a bit whippy for our tastes; but that is only to be expected from a shaft of this weight class.
There were instances where we felt that we were losing control over the club path – and that was further evidenced by the divergence readouts we were getting from the launch monitor.
However, this shaft gives you tangible, palpable and practical results when it comes to club head speed, smash factor and distance.
Why is the Aldila Rogue 60 So Popular?
The Aldila Rogue 60 is an incredibly popular shaft because it is the stock shafts for various high-end golf clubs.
Other than that though, it is a popular choice among slow to moderate swing speed players who want help in the distance department.
How Does the Aldila Rogue 60 Perform?
It’s really hard to argue with the numbers.
Some of our testers reached carry distances between 260 and 268 yards; well above what is normal for them. However, the consistency wasn’t there.
There was a sequence in which I hit 262.7 carry yards, then reached only 245.6 yards on the very next swing.
It was a bit difficult to reign the sidespin in which is what contributed to the distance inconsistency.
Still, the Aldila Rogue 60 is very easy to swing and if we had more time with it, we could probably eliminate some of the variables that were contributing to the overall inconsistency.
Spin rates stayed in the 2400 – 2600 RPM range and offline divergence hovered between 9 and 15 yards.
Almost all of our testers experienced immediate and significant smash factor improvements though.
The best thing about the Aldila Rogue 60 is that it makes it easier for players to take their most powerful swing.
After the first time you swing it, you get the feeling (and the urge) that you can swing well outside of yourself. It’s a very fun shaft to swing and can certainly help slower swing speed players.
