Fujikura Vista Pro 55 Shaft Review – Specs, Flex, Weight
There are five different weight classes for the Fujikura Vista Pro line of shafts and the Fujikura Vista Pro 55 is the second lightest entry.
As you can imagine, this is a very manageable graphite driver shaft that would at the very least, be good for a moderate swing speed player to try.
But is the light weight the only thing the Fujikura Vista Pro 55 has going for it? Hardly.
In the following review, I will be telling you about the subtle performance aspects we uncovered when we tested the Fujikura Vista Pro 55 shaft.
Fujikura Vista Pro 55 Shaft Overview
The first thing I want to talk about is the feel of this shaft.
The Fujikura Vista Pro 55 was designed to have a stiff midsection and a softer butt section. And while most of the action can be felt in the butt section, the entire shaft feels reactive – reactive, but not loose.
The best adjective I can think of to describe the feel of the Fujikura Vista Pro 55 is “fluid.”
You can feel your swing energy work through the entire shaft and release into the ball. Yes, this is an easily activated shaft that has a clear kick but nothing is out of control.
All of the flex is proportional to your swing speed so what you end up with is a very pleasing, pliable feel that sort of explodes on impact. The release is really strong but never erratic.
We had a really great time testing this shaft because it just made almost all of our drives feel more powerful. It was an addicting feeling.
In terms of appearance, the Fujikura Vista Pro 55 keeps things pretty simple.
It has a flat black finish with red and white lettering and a subtle diamond weave in the background. There’s nothing to distract you at point of address.
Why is the Fujikura Vista Pro 55 So Popular?
If the Fujikura Vista Pro 55 truly is a popular shaft, I have to imagine that a lot of the popularity can be attributed to the feel.
In true Fujikura fashion, the Fujikura Vista Pro 55 has an addictively smooth feel. And in this weight class specifically, you really get an explosive response on release and impact.
How Does the Fujikura Vista Pro 55 Perform?
One thing that really surprised us about the performance of this shaft was that it was workable.
Usually, with such lightweight, reactive, graphite shafts, you don’t get to choose shot shape very much. But it must be the stiffer midsection of the Fujikura Vista Pro 55 that gives it good workability.
Our testers and I were able to hit nice fades and draws when we wanted to. And when the fairway was more or less a straight shot, the Fujikura Vista Pro 55 could stay mostly straight as well.
Mostly is the key word in that last sentence. Even when we were trying to keep the ball completely straight, we still got a very subtle baby draw.
This is in no way a knock against this shaft – simply something to note. The launch was mid/high for the most part.
Our launch angles stayed in the 14-16 degree range which is pretty much what you can expect from a 55g shaft.
Spin rates though, weren’t as high as we were expecting. For the most part, the Fujikura Vista Pro 55 stayed in the 2600-2700 RPM range during our test session.
This helps to explain the workability and at least part of the reason why you can’t get a completely straight shot out of this shaft.
Still, the spin is perfect for maintaining workability without being so high that it decreases distance or makes for erratic flight.
