Dynamic Gold Spinner Shaft Review – Specs, Flex, Weight

Dynamic Gold Spinner Shaft

True Temper is one of the most recognizable names in golf.

The company is the epitome of prestige and has a rich history for innovation and tour-proven performance.

Of course, we’re referring to the Dynamic Gold series of iron shafts – perhaps the most popular iron shafts in the world.

But True Temper has never been a company that rests on its laurels. They are always looking to improve and help golfers of all skill-levels lower their score.

To that end, they offer the Dynamic Gold Spinner shaft.

This is lighter than your normal Dynamic Gold shaft and in the following review, we will tell you about its performance aspects and who should be gaming it.

Dynamic Gold Spinner Shaft Overview

First and foremost, you should know that this is a shaft designed specifically for wedges.

True Temper wanted to dial in performance around the pin and offer more golfers the opportunity to feel the Dynamic Gold signature smoothness and control.

The Dynamic Gold Spinner is advertised as being 5% lighter than the Dynamic Gold S400.

To be fair though, this isn’t saying much since the Dynamic Gold S400 is one of the heaviest shafts that True Temper produces.

Still, the Dynamic Gold Spinner does feel manageable in the hands. It still isn’t the lightest wedge shaft we ever tested but it is by no means uncontrollable.

As a wedge shaft, the Dynamic Gold Spinner is set to wedge flex. In terms of feel, wedge flex is essentially the equivalent of stiff flex.

The Dynamic Gold Spinner has a very weak kick that occurs just above the tip section.

The Dynamic Gold Spinner feels very stable – even when you are digging yourself out of a sand trap.

We would expect nothing less from a Dynamic Gold shaft. The transition is very smooth.

However, the Dynamic Gold Spinner does have a more responsive profile than most of the Dynamic Gold shafts we are used to. That’s by design though and is in no way a knock on this shaft.

It will allow more players to get the height and spin they need to hold on to fast greens.

Why is the Dynamic Gold Spinner So Popular?

When you have the words “Dynamic” and “Gold” in the name of your shaft, you’re going to get some attention.

In terms of feel, this is every bit a Dynamic Gold shaft. But it’s more viable for mid handicap players because it is lighter than other Dynamic Gold iron shafts.

More players have been able to benefit from Dynamic Gold accuracy thanks to this shaft.

How Does the Dynamic Gold Spinner Perform?

When compared to normal wedge shafts, the Dynamic Gold Spinner offers lower launch.

The launch isn’t straight up low; it just launches a bit lower than your average wedge shaft.

So short approaches are actually made a bit easier with your wedges as you will likely be able to hit the ball further.

That was the case for our testers anyway. Chipping in from distance was amazingly easy with this shaft.

It has a longer, looser tip section than standard Dynamic Gold shafts so in addition to distance, you get more spin as well. This was a very effective combo for our testing party.

We were able to lock onto more greens from distance. Spin rates were right where we like them for wedges: almost always in the 11,000 RPM range.

So the stopping power was phenomenal. No matter what type of green we were facing, we were able to land dead on it.

The Dynamic Gold Spinner plays smooth on pretty much any lie as well. Whether we were in the rough, semi rough or the bunker, we felt a very smooth transition and stable midsection.

Key Features & Performance

The Dynamic Gold Spinner is able to achieve optimal wedge spin thanks to an elongated and softer tip section.

While dispersion may be sacrificed a bit, you get the spin you need around the pin from this shaft.
