Cobra Aerojet Hybrid Review 2023

“For 2023, Cobra decided to place more of an emphasis on game improvement hybrids in the new Aerojet series.”

“The Aerojet Hybrid clubs have a unique look which made us very excited to go out and test them for ourselves.”

We must say that the Aerojet Hybrid clubs are a bit of a departure from what we’re used to with Cobra clubs. Sure, Cobra has made some great game improvement clubs in the past like the Air X series; but by and large, they are known for making great player’s performance clubs.

The Aerojet Hybrid clubs are designed to help novice and intermediate players improve their games. But how successful were they at this? Let’s discuss it in the following Aerojet Hybrid review.

The Cobra Hybrid Family

“The new Aerojet Hybrid clubs are available in varying and single length shaft options – true to Cobra fashion.”

The Cobra Aerojet Hybrid

  • #2, #3, #4, #5 and #6 versions available
  • Graphite stock shafts

If you want to add multiple Cobra Aerojet Hybrid clubs to your bag but want to keep a progressive length for distance blending, the standard Cobra Aerojet Hybrid clubs are a good choice.

The Cobra Aerojet Hybrid One Length

  • #3, #4 and #5 options available
  • 25” length

If you feel that you are more consistent with a single hybrid shaft length, the Cobra Aerojet Hybrid one length clubs are a great choice. All three options come in 37.25” length and are designed to cater to the consistency needs of particular players.

Key Features

Suspended Weight System

Cobra calls this feature their “PWR-BRIDGE.” In reality, it’s a weight that’s suspended in the back of the head and attached at the heel and toe. The idea here is to allow for a free-floating face and more flex in the sole for increased ball speeds without losing stability in the head.

PWRSHELL Insert

This is a face insert that has been milled to different thicknesses across the face – much like variable thickness faces. It helps preserve ball speed on shots that miss the sweet spot and to optimize spin.

Deep Face Profile

This is one of the most discerning features of the new Cobra Aerojet Hybrid line. The Cobra Aerojet Hybrid has a deep face profile so that you can still actually work the ball if you find yourself in thick cabbage.

Is it Good for High Handicappers?

“Yes. It’s actually good for both mid and high handicappers.”

The deeper face profile will be a welcome sight for high handicappers specifically. That’s because you actually get more up-and-down forgiveness – so low-face shots aren’t so punishing. Mid handicappers will love the ability to cut through the turf and actually work the ball from the rough.

The Cobra Aerojet Hybrid is pretty much everything a high handicapper would want from a hybrid: it launches high and it doesn’t penalize you harshly when you miss the sweet spot. The distance is slightly above average and when you couple it with the high launch, you get the ability to attack long approaches with more accuracy – something mid handicapper will surely appreciate.

Available Shafts

Cobra is issuing one stock shaft for the Cobra Aerojet Hybrid: A KBS PGI graphite shaft in stiff, regular and amateur flex.

Is the Cobra Aerojet Hybrid Worth it?

“The Cobra Aerojet Hybrid is certainly worth it if you prefer a lighter, higher launching hybrid.”

We were impressed with the overall forgiveness and think it would hold a lot of value for mid and high handicappers. So whether you are looking for maximum forgiveness or want to hold fast greens on long par 5’s, the Cobra Aerojet Hybrid would be a good choice.

Cobra Aerojet Hybrid

In 20 Words Or Less

“The Cobra Aerojet Hybrid is a nice blend of launch and forgiveness that will benefit both mid and high handicappers.”

Cobra Aerojet Hybrid – First Impressions

“The Cobra Aerojet Hybrid has an interesting design that you can spot when it’s just sitting in the bag.”

The face has a squared profile and as we mentioned before, runs pretty deep up and down. At address, it has a nice clean look that resembles a normal fairway wood. The minimal Cobra “C” logo is your alignment marker and keeps things nice and clean. When swinging, almost any player will first notice how high these hybrids launch.

Cobra Hybrid Family

“If you’re not sold on the Cobra Aerojet Hybrid then the Cobra T-Rail Hybrids may be worth a look.”

Actually, the T-Rail hybrids may be even better for high handicappers than the Cobra Aerojet Hybrids. The T-Rail Hybrids feature a hollow body design that yields very impressive distance. They also feature baffler rails on the sole to help cut through the turf. Overall, it’s a great rescue hybrid; but it holds almost no value for better players.

Cobra Aerojet Hybrid Selling Points

  • Effortlessly high launch
  • Good spin control for better players
  • Good workability for better players
  • Good turf interaction
  • The face is very forgiving
  • It has a nice sound and feel at impact

Who is the Cobra Aerojet Hybrid for?

“The Cobra Aerojet Hybrid would be an excellent choice if you are looking for a forgiving hybrid that still has a nice feel and satisfying sound.”

Mid handicappers will also like this hybrid because it allows better players to work the ball and adjust spin as needed. Our only real gripe is that the almost automatic launch kind of holds back the overall distance. Carry distances were nothing to write home about for our testers; though they did note pretty decent roll distance.

Other than that, this is an excellent hybrid club. It plays consistently from the rough and from the fairway. It’s not an ideal choice off the pin because, as we said, the overall distance is lacking. But the forgiveness is there for high handicappers and there is just enough workability to be viable for mid handicappers.

Distance: 93/100

Accuracy: 94/100

Forgiveness: 96/100

Feel & Control: 96/100

Overall Score: 94/100
