Callaway Paradym Vs Callaway Rogue ST Max Hybrid Comparison Overview

It feels like we haven’t even covered the Rogue ST Max line of golf clubs righteously and yet, Callaway has launched its successor: the Paradym series.

Naturally, we had the urge to compare the Paradym clubs to the clubs they have replaced and today we will be working on the hybrids.

The Callaway Paradym hybrid comes in two flavors: the standard and the Callaway Paradym X which is the bigger and more forgiving version. The Rogue ST Max comes in standard, ST Max OS and ST Max OS Lite. For this comparison, we tested the standard Callaway Paradym against the Rogue ST Max standard.

Callaway Paradym Hybrid Overview

 Callaway Paradym Hybrid

“We must say that we were thoroughly impressed with the Callaway Paradym hybrid.”

It has everything you need in a hybrid – so long as you intend to use it as a replacement for your long irons. The forward internal weighting mutes spin for less shout divergence and more ball speed.

The cambered leading edge of the sole also helped our testers hit accurate shots out of the rough. The Callaway Paradym hybrid also features a 455 grade steel face which isn’t the strongest you can get on the market; but it was strong enough to keep most of our testers mis-hits on-line.

The new Batwing jailbreak design also helps to keep the head stable on mis-hits which again, promotes straight ball flight.

Callaway Rogue ST Max Hybrid Overview

“One of the biggest differences between the Callaway Paradym and the Rogue ST Max is that the Rogue has a slight draw bias while the Paradym has a neutral flight.”

So right off the bat, the Rogue ST Max may be more beneficial to you if you tend to hook the ball. Other than that though, the ST Max falls short in most categories. While the head profiles are similar, the ST Max lacks the cambered sole that the Paradym has.

So turf interaction isn’t as smooth. Our testers also noticed that the Paradym had tighter shot dispersion than the Rogue ST Max which, more often than not, led to a loss of total distance.

“The Callaway Paradym is an example of a successor making significant improvements over its predecessor. While the face material is the same, the Callaway Paradym gives you more distance through higher MOI. It offers smoother turf interaction as well.”

Callaway Paradym Hybrid – First Impressions

Callaway Paradym Hybrid2

“We were glad that all the logos and coloring were left on the sole.”

The crown looks clean at address which is good because so many new Callaway clubs have honestly looked a bit busy and distracting.

The Callaway Paradym Hybrid has a reassuring look at address as well because of the extended toe-to-heel length.

Callaway Paradyme Family

“If you’re looking for help with your slice, check out the Callaway Paradym X Hybrid.”

The Callaway Paradym X Hybrid is weighted to have a semi-draw bias. It also has more offset than the standard Callaway Paradym Hybrid.

For these reasons, it may be even more useful if what you really need is forgiveness.

Callaway Rogue ST Hybrid First Impressions

Callaway have really outdone themselves on this hybrid. Straight away we could feel the forgiveness and could see the ball visually going further than previous models.

It has 4 loft options, 3 – 6 Hybrid, unfortunately there is no loft sleeve, we felt this was a downside as playing around with the loft can really help you dial in your trajectory and distances.

We could feel the technology working, from miss hits to shots out of the middle, this club performed unbelievably on every shot. We were really impressed with the Jailbreak A.I. system, and the results showed.

This hybrid is very easy to launch, they have been able to place the CG in specific positions to help with launch, making it easier to get the ball into the air.

The Callaway Hybrid Family

The Rogue ST has 3 other models in the family; Rogue ST Max OS, Rogue ST Max OS Lite and Rogue ST Pro.

The Rogue ST Max and Rogue ST Max OS are your oversized options, mainly for your higher handicap player, they both have quite a bit of offset. Because of this they are draw biased. Something to consider if you struggle with a fade or slice.

Rogue ST Pro is for your better player, your more traditional looking Hybrid, it has a neutral shot shape and promotes a low launch and spin profile. Stay away from this model if you are a higher handicap player.

Who is the Callaway Paradym Hybrid For?

Callaway Paradym Hybrid3

“We would say that this hybrid would be best for mid handicappers.”

We’re not sure what Callaway was thinking when they suggested that the Callaway Paradym Hybrid was best for mid to low handicappers.

Almost all of our low handicap testers mentioned that the Callaway Paradym Hybrid was pretty much unworkable.

And while it’s a good hybrid for moderate swing speed players, the launch is actually a bit too high to be favorable for players with 90+ MPH swing speeds.

Instead, the Callaway Paradym Hybrid seems ideal for mid handicappers with some good usefulness to high handicappers as well.

The Callaway Paradym Hybrid would also be a good hybrid to consider if what you need is straight flight.

The face feels really solid; but also a bit lifeless at impact. But we can overlook that in light of the stellar accuracy and comfortable turf interaction.
