Taylormade Stealth 2 Vs Callaway Paradym Hybrid Comparison Overview

Making practical sense of the differences between hybrid clubs is crucial if you want to maximize your performance on the links.

So in the following comparison overview, we will be telling you about the differences between the new Taylormade Stealth 2 and Callaway Paradym hybrids.

Please note that for this comparison, we will be looking at the standard Callaway Paradym and the standard Taylormade Stealth 2 hybrids. The Paradym also comes in a Paradym X version while you can choose from Stealth 2 HD and Stealth 2 Plus models.

Taylormade Stealth 2 Hybrid Overview

“The standard Stealth 2 rescue club was meant to be the all-around performer of the new series – and it does indeed bring a lot to the table.”

Mainly forgiveness though. The Stealth 2 rescue features the Speed Pocket which has almost become obligatory for Taylormade clubs these days. It  also features the V-Steel sole panel and Inverted Cone technology.

The sole panel helped our testers get the club under the ball while the inverted cone technology corrected a plethora of their mis-hits. In other words, you have to  work really hard to lose ball speed and drift your ball off-line.

However, our testers said that the Taylormade Stealth 2 rescue was a bit prone to chunking from the rough. Even so, the Stealth 2 proved to be comfortable to swing and long when you nailed the sweet spot.

Callaway Paradym Hybrid Overview

Callaway Paradym Hybrid

“The Callaway Paradym checks off almost all the boxes.”

Callaway has updated their hybrid sole designs to feature a cambered leading edge. Where the Stealth 2 felt chunky in the rough, the Callaway Paradym hybrid feels like a razor blade cutting through even thick turf.

Our testers said that it was very easy to get clean contact in the rough with the Callaway Paradym. The only department where the Callaway Paradym came up short was forgiveness. The inverted cone design of the Stealth 2 seemed to do a better job of keeping heel/toe mis-hits on-line. However, the forward internal weighting of the Paradym hybrid made it longer on pure shots.

“While the Taylormade Stealth 2 hybrid may ultimately be more forgiving, the Callaway Paradym will be better for you if you make consistent contact because A) it will play longer and B) it performs consistently better from the rough. The Stealth 2 may be a better choice for 25+ handicappers.”

“The Callaway Paradym Hybrid seems to solidify the overarching motif of the Paradym series: straight flight and accuracy.”

Taylormade Stealth 2 Hybrid – First Impressions

“At first, we believed that the Taylormade Stealth 2 hybrid was a pure GI club.”

But its workability and versatility quickly impressed us. It’s not the longest hybrid on the market; but it makes up for it with accuracy.

“The Stealth 2 Plus and Stealth 2 HD hybrids are also available for more specific needs.”

The HD version will help correct a slice while the Stealth 2 Plus is a better option for low handicap players seeking lower flight and spin.

“We were glad that all the logos and coloring were left on the sole.”

The crown looks clean at address which is good because so many new Callaway clubs have honestly looked a bit busy and distracting.

The Callaway Paradym Hybrid has a reassuring look at address as well because of the extended toe-to-heel length.

Callaway Paradyme Family

“If you’re looking for help with your slice, check out the Callaway Paradym X Hybrid.”

The Callaway Paradym X Hybrid is weighted to have a semi-draw bias. It also has more offset than the standard Callaway Paradym Hybrid.

For these reasons, it may be even more useful if what you really need is forgiveness.

Who is the Taylormade Stealth 2 Hybrid for?

“The Taylormade Stealth 2 hybrid is sure to suit the needs of many kinds of players.”

We were a little disappointed with the spin rates and the high launch compared to the Stealth 2 Plus hybrid. But the standard Taylormade Stealth 2 hybrid definitely checks more boxes. While it isn’t as long as the “Plus” version, it is playable for more types of golfers.

It is truly a rescue club from the rough and it will allow skilled players to actually attack the pin from tight lies. It feels and sounds nice when you pure the ball and you don’t lose much ball speed when you mis-hit.

Who is the Callaway Paradym Hybrid For?

Callaway Paradym Hybrid3

“We would say that this hybrid would be best for mid handicappers.”

We’re not sure what Callaway was thinking when they suggested that the Callaway Paradym Hybrid was best for mid to low handicappers.

Almost all of our low handicap testers mentioned that the Callaway Paradym Hybrid was pretty much unworkable.

And while it’s a good hybrid for moderate swing speed players, the launch is actually a bit too high to be favorable for players with 90+ MPH swing speeds.

Instead, the Callaway Paradym Hybrid seems ideal for mid handicappers with some good usefulness to high handicappers as well.

The Callaway Paradym Hybrid would also be a good hybrid to consider if what you need is straight flight.

The face feels really solid; but also a bit lifeless at impact. But we can overlook that in light of the stellar accuracy and comfortable turf interaction.
