Titleist TSR2 Fairway Wood Review
Since the launch of the TS line of fairway woods, the astute among you may have noticed that the number 2 models have always done well on tour.
The TSR2 seems to be no different and so this article is arguably the most important of the three part series on the Titleist TSR fairway woods.
This line-up features two models, the TSR2 and the TSR2+ which we will touch on here.
We will mainly focus on the TSR2 though as it is the club that should appeal to the majority of readers. If you’re in the market for a new fairway wood then you don’t want to miss this article.
The Titleist TSR Fairway Wood Family
The Titleist TSR fairway wood family features clubs that will help you maximise clubhead speed and distance (TSR1),
one that balances speed and playability (TSR2) and one that is meant for fine control and playability (TSR3).
From high handicappers to pros, everyone is catered for.
The engineers at Titleist are masters at building advanced and specialised clubs that will fit seamlessly with your skill level and enhance your game.
I am a huge Titleist fan, I have been for many year but I am sure that this is no surprise to you after this glowing introduction.
Who Is The TSR2 Fairway Wood For?
The TSR2 fairway wood is built for players who want speed and forgiveness yet also want to be able to shape the ball somewhat.
This is a tall order but the number of TSR2 woods you see in tour bags should be a nod to the fact that Titleist have pulled this off.
Golfers with a mid handicap all the way down to tour players could fire this club into the bag and get great value from it.
It is designed to give a consistent and high ball flight and to instil confidence at address. The TSR2 also has a really fast face, this one goes!
What Is The TSR2+ All About?
For a few years now, Titleist have developed fairway woods with a great tee shot bias.
The TSR2+ replaces the old Fd models in that sense. This club has a deeper face, a slightly altered centre of gravity (CoG) and is more geared toward distance than the regular fairway models.
If you are the type of golfer who loves having a three wood as a secondary option from the tee, this is the club for you.
It is much stronger in terms of loft than the TSR2 and will be harder to hit from the fairway too. Think of it as a 2 wood or mini-driver. We will focus on just the TSR2 now.
How Forgiving Is The TSR2?
This club almost defies logic.
In this video you will see, from the 5:45 mark that even on off-centre hits, this three wood goes miles.
The TSR2 has an incredibly low CoG which helps with the launch of the ball and to maximise forgiveness, and somehow they have managed to keep a nice flight.
One potential issue with altering the CoG like this is that you can end up causing the ball to backspin like crazy and balloon up into the air where it will stall, Titleist have managed to avoid this.
The TSR2 is a wildly impressive fairway wood, it goes far and goes easily.

“A beautiful looking and sounding long-range green seeking machine.”
Titleist TSR2 Fairway Wood First Impressions
I couldn’t believe how easy this club was to hit.
Of course well-struck shots went far but it was the off-centre hits that really impressed.
The TSR2 showed impressive distance and straightness on shots that I would have expected to be short and way off-line.
