Ping G430 Vs Callaway Paradym Fairway Woods Comparison Overview

Ping G430 Vs Callaway Paradym Fairway Woods

It seems like golf club manufacturers are borrowing features and manufacturing techniques from each other now more than ever.

The Callaway Paradym and Ping G430 fairway woods are a good example of this phenomenon.

And while it’s always good to go with what works, it can make things a bit confusing for the consumer.

So today we are going to be demystifying the differences between the Callaway Paradym and Ping G430 fairway woods.

Please note that the Callaway Paradym comes in standard, X and Triple Diamond versions while the G430 comes in SFT and MAX versions.

For this comparison, we pitted the Paradym X against the Ping G430 MAX.

Ping G430 Fairway Wood Overview

“The Ping G430 MAX is a forgiving club that produces a neutral ball flight.”

This is opposed to the Ping G430 SFT that produces a slight draw bias. The Pong G430 also has a C300 maraging steel face which produces a very satisfying crack at impact.

It also plays very hot. In fact, many of our testers reported near-immediate distance increases with the Ping G430 MAX.

They also raved about the forgiveness factor. The Ping G430 features variable face thickness and variable roll radius.

This tandem makes for much straighter shots on mis-hits made in the high-toe and low-heel areas.

The Ping G430 fairway wood also features a carbon composite crown that sinks into the skirt and parts of the heel. This feature seemed to help lower the overall club head weight.

“The Callaway Paradym X fairway wood incorporates a new technology in the form of forged carbon fiber.”

This, along with a lighter tungsten weight than previous models significantly reduces the club head weight.

When we tested the Callaway Paradym against the Ping G430, we could feel almost no difference in club head weight.

However, the Callaway Paradym did produce lower side spin rates compared to the G430. This resulted in a moderate increase in overall distance thanks to better ball speeds.

The launch angles we were getting with the Callaway Paradym fairway wood were also steeper than the G430.

“While the Callaway Paradym will most likely help a wide range of players attack long approaches from the deck, our testers noted that the Ping G430 was more forgiving overall.

So if you’re a high handicapper, you may want to go with the Ping G430 MAX.”

Ping G430 Fairway Wood – First Impressions

“Overall we were pretty excited to get our hands on the Ping G430 fairway woods.”

We really liked the black and red color scheme and the overall aesthetic is very much in line with modern Ping clubs

We were taken with the feel of these woods almost immediately. The C300 maraging steel has an excellent resonant tone that really rewards you on pure strikes. While the Ping G430 fairway woods aren’t forged, you get feedback that is comparable to forged woods from them.

“The Ping G430 SFT and MAX models are the same in almost every way.”

The MAX model has an additional 9W option and the SFT model has a sliding weight. Both models sport the C300 maraging face and Facewrap technology. They also both have the composite carbon crown.

“With just one glance, you can tell that this was a fairway wood built to modern specifications.”

What we mean is that they bear more of a resemblance to modern hybrid clubs than any other Callaway wood we have seen before.

They were certainly built with mid and high handicappers in mind – although the Triple Diamond version definitely has something to offer lower handicap players.

Upon swinging the Callaway Paradym Fairway Woods, we were impressed with the lowered spin and moderate increase in carry distance for most of our testers.

“The standard Callaway Paradym Fairway Woods are great for mid and high handicappers.”

The Paradym X fairway woods have a slight draw bias so they would be the best choice for players struggling to fix a slice.

The Triple Diamond Paradym fairway woods have the most classic-looking profile and the deepest faces.

This is the best choice if you are able to work the ball and want to attack long approaches more aggressively.
