Ping G410 Fairway Woods Review 2023

Ping G410 Fairway Woods3

“The Ping G410 family of fairway woods may be a bit dated in 2023; but that doesn’t mean they don’t have anything to offer.”

The great thing about Ping is that they always make sure that new releases appeal to as many players as possible.

That’s true now and it was certainly true when the Ping G410 fairway woods came out.

All of the Ping G410 fairway woods play hot thanks to an advanced material used for the face construction.

We wanted to see exactly how each fairway wood performed though so we tested each one in preparation for this review. What do the Ping G410 fairway woods have to offer? Let’s talk about it.

The Ping G410 Fairway Wood Family

“Like most Ping releases, the Ping G410 fairway woods come in three different versions.”

The Ping G410 Fairway Wood

  • 3W, 5W, 7W, 9W available
  • Neutral ball flight

The standard Ping G410 fairway wood is your Swiss Army knife.

The low CG helps you launch the ball in the air; but the neutral ball flight makes it more workable than the SFT version.

The Ping G410 SFT Fairway Wood

  • Heelside weighting
  • Adjustable loft

The Ping G410 SFT was designed to help straighten out the shots of higher handicap players.

It has the lightest swing weight of all of the Ping G410 fairway woods and a slightly larger head.

Ping G410 LST Fairway Wood

  • 3W available
  • 159cc head

The Ping G410 LST fairway wood has the smallest head in the Ping G410 fairway wood lineup.

It is also the only one to feature emphasized forward weighting in order to keep spin rates down.

Key Features

Ping G410 Fairway Woods1

Forged Maraging Steel Faces

Maraging steel is one of the thinnest and most resilient types of steel used to  manufacture golf clubs.

In the case of the Ping G410 fairway woods, it creates a springboard for almost all of your shots – mis-hits or otherwise.

Rear Tungsten Weighting

In order to increase MOI and keep the head from twisting at impact, a high-density tungsten weight has been fixed to the extreme rear of each Ping G410 fairway wood.

Trajectory Tuning

Each fairway wood in the Ping G410 series comes with an adjustable loft tuner. The tuner allows you to increase the loft 1.5° up or down. This same feature also allows you to flatten your trajectory.

Are They Good for High Handicappers?

“The standard Ping G410 and the Ping G410 SFT are certainly helpful for high handicappers.’

The best thing about these versions is that they have a nice, expansive sweet spot.

They also have a shallower face profile that helps to improve lateral forgiveness and increase the MOI just a bit.

The result is surprisingly straight shots even on mis-hits. The Ping G410 SFT will certainly help you fix your slice as well.

However, it should be noted that if you already produce a straight shot, the Ping G410 SFT will definitely cause you to draw more.

Available Shafts

  • Ping Alta CB 65 red
  • Project X EvenFlow Black 85
  • Mitsubishi Tensei CK Orange 70
  • Ping Tour 65, 75

Is the Ping G410 Fairway Wood Worth it?

“The feel and sound of the face are almost enough to say these woods are worth it by themselves.”

All the Ping G410 fairway woods produce a medium crack even when you slightly mis-hit the sweet spot. They feel incredibly satisfying and the face will do a lot to help improve your distance.

The C300 maraging steel face was an excellent addition to the Ping G410 fairway wood lineup mainly because it pushes ball speeds on more of your strikes.

It also works in tandem with the rear weight very well by increasing flex without giving up stability.

What you end up with is a set of fairway woods that will keep your ball on-line even as it increases your ball speeds.

For the distance, feel and accuracy, we would say the Ping G410 fairway woods are worth the price.

“High-end maraging steel faces push ball speed and accuracy while a forgiving profile and high MOI offer tight shot dispersion.”

Ping G410 Fairway Wood -First Impressions

Ping G410 Fairway Woods1

“The first thing that we noticed was the classic Ping design at point of address.”

The Ping G410’s bear the matte black finish that was very popular over at Ping at the time.

The crown also bears the “Turbulators” that are supposed to reduce drag on your downswing and increase your club head speed.

We’re not sure about all that but what we do know is that the combination of the matte black finish and the turbulators make the Ping G410 fairway woods look like jet fighters behind the ball, just waiting to blast off.

Then of course, the sound and feel made us fall in love with these fairway woods.

You don’t have to have an insane swing speed to get a crisp, clear, crack out of these fairway woods.

Ping G410 Fairway Wood Family

“Each entry into the Ping G410 fairway wood line is designed for a specific type of player.”

The standard Ping G410 offers a good combination of forgiveness and distance – not to mention high launch.

The Ping G410 SFT will help straighten out your shot and the Ping G410 LST offers lower spin, launch and better workability for more skilled players.
