Cobra Aerojet Vs Cobra LTDx Hybrid Comparison Overview

Hybrid clubs can be tricky.

On the one hand, it can be tempting to replace all of your long irons with hybrids; but if you do, you are giving up a lot of shot-making ability. On the other hand, you may struggle to stay on the fairway and get the distance you need if you have just one or no hybrids in your bag – if you’re a mid/high handicapper.

It can be hard to find the right balance especially if you’re shopping hybrids from the same manufacturer. So to help, we will be sharing our insight of the Cobra LTDx and Cobra Aerojet hybrids.

Cobra Aerojet Hybrid Comparison Overview

“The Aerojet hybrids have a squared face that is supposed to help with forgiveness and turf interaction.”

What this shape does is increase bounce which makes the Aerojet hybrids very helpful from the rough or tight lies. And the Aerojet hybrids wouldn’t be true cobra clubs if they didn’t have forward-positioned weighting.

This time, the Aerojet weighting takes the form of a suspended weight that is joined to the head at the heel and toe; but floats above the sole. Our testers mentioned that full swings with the Aerojet hybrid felt very stable and stayed on-line – something we feel can be attributed to the new weight design.

The Aerojet hybrid also has a variable thickness face which is expansive and very forgiving. The launch was pretty high overall but the distance was hindered a bit by the almost uncontrollable height.

Cobra LTDx Hybrid Overview

“The Cobra LTDx hybrids have a more traditional, squat head shape that looks better at address.”

They also feature a forged stainless steel face design which is incredibly responsive and plays very hot. We felt that the Cobra LTDx irons were more suitable replacements for a couple of your long irons because they garnered comparable distance.

Of course, the Cobra LTDx hybrid is forward-weight so spin rates are reduced overall. The Cobra LTDx hybrid also features variable face thickness and they are about as forgiving as the Aerojet hybrids.

“While the Aerojet hybrids are newer, we actually liked the Cobra LTDx hybrids a bit more. It will be hard to see where the Aerojet hybrids would fit in the bag of mid handicappers; but we can see the Cobra LTDx’s being used as long iron replacements for both high and mid handicappers.”

“The Cobra LTDx hybrid plays great from pretty much any lie and from the tee. Good distance and forgiveness.”

Cobra Aerojet Hybrid – First Impressions

“The Cobra Aerojet Hybrid has an interesting design that you can spot when it’s just sitting in the bag.”

The face has a squared profile and as we mentioned before, runs pretty deep up and down. At address, it has a nice clean look that resembles a normal fairway wood. The minimal Cobra “C” logo is your alignment marker and keeps things nice and clean. When swinging, almost any player will first notice how high these hybrids launch.

“If you’re not sold on the Cobra Aerojet Hybrid then the Cobra T-Rail Hybrids may be worth a look.”

Actually, the T-Rail hybrids may be even better for high handicappers than the Cobra Aerojet Hybrids. The T-Rail Hybrids feature a hollow body design that yields very impressive distance. They also feature baffler rails on the sole to help cut through the turf. Overall, it’s a great rescue hybrid; but it holds almost no value for better players.

Cobra LTDx Hybrid2

“The Cobra LTDx was actually a bit refreshing because it was pretty straightforward and doesn’t take very much time to get used to.”

We’ve tested a lot of modern hybrids with tunable weight ports and adjustable head weights. And while all that stuff is really nice to have, it’s nice to just get on the course and start swinging and learning your club.

The Cobra LTDx hybrid lacks a lot of periphery features like adjustable loft and sliding weights; but it’s a very easy club to get the hang of – even if you have never used a hybrid club before.

One thing we will say though is that the Cobra LTDx hybrids start to show their weaknesses on short approaches. You don’t get great apex height and there isn’t enough spin to help you stick the green.

For most beginners and high handicappers though, that shouldn’t be too much of a problem as your main concern in your early stages with the game will be simply to reach the pin.

The Cobra LTDx hybrid is a club that will definitely help you achieve that. One of the best things about it is that it gives you really good distance from tough lies thanks to the baffler rails that help smooth out turf interaction.

Who is the Cobra Aerojet Hybrid for?

“The Cobra Aerojet Hybrid would be an excellent choice if you are looking for a forgiving hybrid that still has a nice feel and satisfying sound.”

Mid handicappers will also like this hybrid because it allows better players to work the ball and adjust spin as needed. Our only real gripe is that the almost automatic launch kind of holds back the overall distance. Carry distances were nothing to write home about for our testers; though they did note pretty decent roll distance.

Other than that, this is an excellent hybrid club. It plays consistently from the rough and from the fairway. It’s not an ideal choice off the pin because, as we said, the overall distance is lacking. But the forgiveness is there for high handicappers and there is just enough workability to be viable for mid handicappers.

Distance: 93/100

Accuracy: 94/100

Forgiveness: 96/100

Feel & Control: 96/100

Overall Score: 94/100

Who is the Cobra LTDx Hybrid for?

Cobra LTDx Hybrid3

“Even as a high handicapper, it’s not inconceivable to start getting distances of 160 yards with the 4 hybrid in the Cobra LTDx set.”

The Cobra LTDx hybrid would be best for anyone looking for a viable replacement to their long irons.

We wouldn’t recommend anyone opting for the 6 hybrid in this set as you will lose a ton of control and most likely end up sailing the ball past the green.

But as pure distance and forgiveness clubs, the Cobra LTDx hybrids are excellent.

The Cobra LTDx hybrids would be perfect for anyone looking for good forgiveness as well.

It’s very hard to wield your long iron effectively as a beginner so to flatten out the learning curve by a significant margin, the Cobra LTDx hybrids would be a great choice.

These clubs are obviously not for pros and low handicappers; but they will certainly do a lot to build the confidence of high handicappers and to make them look like better players than they actually are.

The Cobra Hybrid Family

The Cobra LTDx isn’t the only forgiving hybrid club that Cobra produces.

You can also check out the Cobra T-Rail Hybrid. The T-Rail features the same AI-designed variable face thickness but in a lighter and more affordable package.

This is another great option for high handicappers and beginners; but it does suffer from the same lack of accuracy from short distances that the Cobra LTDx hybrid does.

If however, you are a mid to low handicapper and you are looking to attack more long par 5’s, you may want to check out the Cobra Radspeed hybrid.

The Radspeed hybrid puts a large emphasis on radial weighting. In fact, there are 12 grams of weight (divided into two 6 gram weights) up front and a 7 gram weight in the back.

The result is a hybrid that practically kills all spin on contact.

Again, you will want to keep a good scoring iron in your bag if you use the Cobra Radspeed hybrid; but it is a great choice for anyone who craves better distance – especially from tough lies.

Distance: 95/100

Forgiveness: 94/100

Accuracy: 93/100

Feel & Control: 92/100

Overall Score: 94/100
