Taylormade M4 Vs Callaway Paradym Driver Comparison Overview

Taylormade M4 Vs Callaway Paradym Driver

It’s a battle of new vs old in today’s comparison overview.

We went out and tested the new Callaway Paradym and put it up against the Taylormade M4 driver.

We wanted to see which is the superior game improvement driver so we let our high handicap testers go at it with both of these drivers at the range. Let’s take a look at how they performed.

Taylormade M4 Driver Overview

“The technology used to make the Taylormade M4 isn’t anything to write home about.”

The key feature here is the speed pocket which is a channel bored into the bottom edge of the face.

What this channel does is increase flex on shots made low on the face – a region that would normally deaden flex and kill ball speed.

Indeed, the Taylormade M4 driver produced good ball speed even when we made contact with the bottom of the face.

The M4 is a 460cc driver and it looks pretty big at point of address. Spin rates were pretty high overall (between 2600 and 2800 RPMs).

This definitely had an effect on distance. After three swings each, our testers averaged a distance of 226.7 yards with the Taylormade M4 driver.

Our testers mentioned that the M4 sounded and felt nice. They said that they could feel and hear right away whether or not they hit the sweet spot.

Callaway Paradym Driver Overview

“The Callaway Paradym driver features an all carbon fiber chassis to help lower the weight by a significant margin over the M4 driver.”

Right away, our testers were registering faster club head speeds with the Callaway Paradym driver.

There is also a 15-gram adjustable weight that can be set in draw, neutral and fade positions. The all carbon fiber chassis coupled with the forged titanium head made for a driver that played very hot as well.

Spin rates were lower than the Taylormade M4 as well. The Callaway Paradym is a 460cc driver so there is still plenty of forgiveness to be taken advantage of.

Average distance for our testers with the Callaway Paradym was 238.1 yards.

“At the end of the day, there was no contest. The Callaway Paradym played longer, felt better and was almost as forgiving as the Taylormade M4 driver – it even looks better in the bag.

If you need a good GI driver, the Callaway Paradym would be the better choice.”

Taylormade M4 First Impressions

The M4 driver looks great at point of address with a nice, beefy 460CC head.

Right away, the M4 looks great for beginners and high handicapper – or anyone with a slower swing speed in general.

We were also really impressed by the way this driver sounded and felt. You will find that the M4 really helps straighten out your drives as well. One of the caveats with this driver though is that launch angles were slightly lower when compared to the M6.

The M Family

Another worthwhile entry into the Taylormade M driver family is the M2 which is an extremely lightweight driver that features a multi-layer carbon crown and titanium body.

Callaway Paradym Driver – First Impressions

“The Blue colored full carbon chassis of the Callaway Paradym really grew on us as the round wore on, espeically due to the exceptional forgiveness from the clubs Ai enhanced face”

The Ai enhancement of the forged titanium face ensures that the ball is going straight from almost any area across it.

It is also big and inviting in the Paradym and Paradym X models.

The Triple diamond is more compact and will offer tour players longer distance and more workability in the 2023 season.

The Face Cup Technology wraps around the face to extend the forgiveness even further and enhance the flex across the face.

The Ai Jailbreak speedbar technology is still on offer but it is reduced to a single bar again with two prons at the bottom. This offers enhanced ballspeeds and increased stability.

The 360 Degree Carbon chassis is a first in the industry and offers unrivalled weight savings which are then redistributed to enhance the ball speeds on offer.

Overall these clubs are longer, more forgiving and feel better than their predecessors.

The only problem is the premium price tag that comes with them which is close to $700 or £600.

Callaway Paradym Family

The Paradym has an adjustable 15g slot that can be adjusted to suit your swing style.

It offers mid level spin and superb distance. Were getting around 10 yards further the Rogue ST Driver from 2022.

For someone that tends to draw the ball a little bit, the Paradym X was drawing a bit much for my liking but it will definitely suit a slicer.

It is the highest launching, highest spinning model with the shortest distance.

It is probably worth sacrificing that extra distance to actually land on the Fairway more consistently.

Expect to see the Paradym Triple Diamond extensively on tour this year, while some Tour Pros will prefer the regular Paradym.

The Diamond version has a 450cc head, and adjustable weighting. It offers stronger lofts, the most distance and the lowest launch angle.

Who is the Taylormade M4 Driver for?

The Taylormade M4 would make a great driver for anyone who is on a bit of a budget but still wants significant help with forgiveness.

Keep in mind though that if you really want to prioritize distance, the M4 played about 13 yards shorter than the Taylormade M6 driver on average.

The forgiveness of the M4 driver is at least on par with that of the Taylormade M6 driver though. And we actually think that the M4 sounds and feels better when you strike right on the sweet spot.

Also, it should be noted that the M4 is not so much for lower handicap players. The workability is minimal and if you have a faster swing speed, you might actually lose some distance with this driver.

Distance: 92/100

Feel & Control: 93/100

Accuracy: 92/100

Forgiveness: 93/100

Overall Rating: 92/100

Who is the Callaway Paradym Driver for?

“The 3 Paradym drivers on offer from Callaway have enough firepower to suit every type of golfer possible.”

While the draw bias X version was a little too draw bias for us. Some players who don’t slice the ball have found it incredibly straight. It launches high and it is the most forgiving by far. Slightly less distance than the regular Paradym.

The regular Paradym will be the best choice for almost all players. It has an adjustable 15g weight on the back that will suit and shot type.

This one is jam packed with the latest ai technology and carbon body. We found it 10 yards longer and more forgiving than the 2022 model.

The triple diamond is going to be limited to the best strikers in the game.

We were spraying this one left and right but when we did catch it flush, it flew for miles.

Overall a very impressive if not slightly expensive set of drivers.

Distance: 97/100

Accuracy: 95/100

Forgiveness: 96/100

Feel & Control: 94/100

Overall Score:  96/100
