The clubs look gorgeous in the bag and will make you want to hit the course or the range more often. As we got to know the Wilson Platinum Profile set, we were smitten by how the wide-soled, deep cavity back irons performed.

They are excellent for sweeping the ball off the deck and getting the launch you need on a variety of lies. The wedges in this set also provide a surprising level of spin control. The woods and hybrid come with graphite shafts and the irons and putter have steel shafts.

#2 – Taylormade RBZ Golf Club Set – Best Premium

The Taylormade RBZ Golf Club Set includes a driver, 3-wood, 4-hybrid, irons 6-SW and a putter.

The gapping was particularly excellent for our high handicap testers. They noted that repeatable distances were consistent and seamless between the 3-wood and 4-hybrid and that the hybrid was the perfect bridge between the woods and irons.

Speaking of the irons, we were taken aback at how forgiving they were. They have moderate head sizes but the perimeter weighting really helped with mis-hits towards the heel. The Taylormade RBZ Golf Club Set would be a great set of clubs for anyone seeking better accuracy from the deck.

During our testing, we also noticed that the RBZ clubs were on the light side. While certainly not the lightest set of clubs we have ever played, they were light enough to be viable for our slower swing speed testers. We also really liked the feedback and feel we got from the wedges in this set.

#3 – Callaway Strata – Best Budget Option

For just about $300, you can score the Callaway Strata golf club set which includes a driver, 3-wood, 5-hybrid, irons 6-PW and a mallet-style putter.

We were really impressed with the 460cc driver which features a forged construction.

This not only ensures durability; but enhances feel and consistency as well. What you will get most from the Callaway Strata set is distance. While workability is limited in nearly all of the clubs because of the sizes of the heads, this would still be a great option for anyone struggling to get down the fairway. Pretty much every club in this set was designed to play long.

The short-game is where you’ll struggle a bit; but that is more or less something to be expected from budget clubs. The driver head is made of titanium so it’s lightweight but still has a low CG that you can really feel on your downswing. The irons have weak lofts which again, is ideal if you want max distance.

Pros:

• Very affordable
• Large club heads
• Very easy to hit

Cons:

• Almost no workability

The Precise M5 Men’s Complete Golf Clubs Package Set comes with a driver, 3-wood, 21-degree hybrid, irons 6-PW and a putter.

We really liked the forgiveness and quick roll of the mallet-style putter. Our higher handicap testers also noted that the putter’s alignment maker was very helpful.

The irons were a bit on the heavy side but they have deep undercuts that look great at address and produce incredible launch. The woods are outfitted with graphite shafts while the irons and putter have steel shafts. This would be a great set for beginners who really want to stick with the game.

The putter driver also has a nice, deep face. The benefit of this design is that it increases forgiveness on low-face shots – a type of shot that is common among beginners. While the pitching wedge doesn’t offer a ton of spin, it still launches nice and high which is good for landing dead on fast greens.

The set includes a driver, fairway wood, hybrid, irons 6-PW and a mallet-style putter. The irons are cavity-backed so they offer a good amount of forgiveness right off the bat. But we really liked the balance of the putter. The mallet-style with perimeter weighting really helps smooth out your stroke.

The great thing about the Precise AMG Men’s Complete Golf Clubs Package Set is that even though it is a beginner set of clubs, you will be able to upgrade it as your game improves. There are clubs in this set that will still serve you after you break 100 so it offers really good value overall.

The thing we really liked about this set was the composition. We liked that it included 2 hybrid clubs and didn’t omit the longer irons.

This composition provides initial forgiveness; but also the opportunity and space to advance your game. Speaking of forgiveness, the 460cc titanium driver features a massive sweet spot and feels very fast and wieldy in the hands. It produces great distance and is almost impossible to miss with.

Things get toned down a bit by the time you get to the irons. They sport moderate head sizes but are still cavity-backed with perimeter weighting – a great combination for forgiveness and workability. The woods and hybrids have graphite shafts while the irons and putter are outfitted with steel shafts.

Pros:

• Great set for mid handicappers
• Stainless steel irons give a solid feel
• Very forgiving driver

Cons:

• Durability may be an issue

We were stunned with how affordable this set was after we tested it. At under $300, the MOG Tour X Rezults Mens 12pc Golf Set is an absolute steal.

It starts with the forged 460cc driver which increases ball speed as soon as you find the sweet spot – and that doesn’t take very long at all.

Both the driver and the fairway wood in this set feature high-flex graphite shafts so they are viable for slower swing speeds. The hybrid is perimeter weighted and very forgiving. The set includes 4 massive irons and a pitching wedge that produces a mid-low launch. The set is rounded out by a heel/toe weighted putter.

We were a bit disappointed that this set didn’t include a 2^nd fairway wood and that the PW launched kind of low; but everything else about it was impressive. The irons are incredibly forgiving and the driver is comparable to ones that cost much more in terms of distance, forgiveness and feel.

Pros:

• Excellent overall value
• The irons are very easy to hit
• The driver feels amazing

Cons:

• Only one fairway wood included

The Powerbilt Pro Power Package +1″ Golf Set adds an inch to your standard golf club length so it would be a great fit if you’re about 6’1” or taller.

The set features a driver, fairway wood, hybrid, irons 6-PW and a mid-mallet putter. To be honest, the irons in this set were a bit awkward.

They have relatively shallow cavities and the undercut is interrupted by a divot. So they produce a middle launch that is mostly beneficial in the long irons. The woods feature Apollo graphite shafts and the irons and putter feature Apollo steel shafts, which was a nice touch.

The hybrid in this set was especially impressive. The shape of the sole and the squat face allows for great forgiveness while making it a viable play in the rough. This would be a great set for any beginner player who needs a little extra length from his clubs.

Pros:

• They feel like they’ll last a long time
• Really good price
• The driver and hybrid have expansive sweet spots

Cons:

• The irons don’t perform very well
