Titleist TSR2 Hybrid Overview

The TSR2 features a low, deep CG for higher ball flight. During testing, I had no problem exceeding my launch window and honing in on targets around the pin.

The stopping power was unquestionably acute and the recessed sole pockets made for smooth turf interaction as well.

The TSR2 also has an adjustable hosel. At address, the TSR2 looks more like a fairway wood. It has a rounded profile which looks very inviting and forgiving overall.

But I found a lack of consistency across the face. Flush shots produce mid spin; but toe-side mis-hits were producing erratic and unpredictable spin numbers.

The Stealth 2 has a shallower face profile and inverted cone technology. The launch was pretty much the same as the TSR2 thanks to the low CG. But the Stealth 2’s face was much more consistent.

The dispersion was tighter for me as well. I was finding the heart of the fairway on all my shots with the Stealth 2 so long as I wasn’t launching hosel rockets. But the Stealth 2 wasn’t as clean through the turf as the TSR2.

Titleist TSR2 Hybrid First Impressions

“My first thought about the Titleist TSR2 hybrid was that it looked really clean.”

As usual, Titleist kept the design of the crown neat and tidy. All you see is a pleasing spherical shape and a single alignment marker. I also liked the rounded shape that leans towards a fairway wood aesthetic.

The Titleist TSR Hybrid Family

If you’re looking for more of a player’s look and more adjustability, check out the Titleist TSR3. The Titleist TSR3 is the only hybrid in the TSR line to feature an adjustable CG weight.

A single weight can be positioned to achieve a neutral, heel, toe, extreme heel or extreme toe center of gravity. The Titleist TSR3 also features the same adjustable hosel as the Titleist TSR2.

Compared to the TSR1 and TSR2 hybrids, the TSR3 has a more compact head shape. It doesn’t extend as far as the Titleist TSR2 so you get more of a large iron profile than a fairway wood profile.

As a result, the Titleist TSR3 is the most workable hybrid in the TSR family. I would definitely recommend it to mid and low handicappers.

But its workability and versatility quickly impressed us. It’s not the longest hybrid on the market; but it makes up for it with accuracy.

Who is the Titleist TSR2 Hybrid for?

“Despite my preconceptions, testing the Titleist TSR2 hybrid proved that it is indeed a good club for high handicappers.”

I would say that as long as you’re in the 17-25 handicap range, you will get along well with this hybrid. I really liked that it covered up toe-side mis-hits which is probably the most common type of mis-hit for high handicappers.

The Titleist TSR2 hybrid is also easy to launch. I was achieving steep launch angles and correspondingly steep descent angles. As a result, I was able to stop the ball better on or at least near my target.

So if you are looking for a hybrid that will not only provide adequate forgiveness but make you a better pin-hunter, the Titleist TSR2 would be a solid choice.

Who is the Taylormade Stealth 2 Hybrid for?

“The Taylormade Stealth 2 hybrid is sure to suit the needs of many kinds of players.”

We were a little disappointed with the spin rates and the high launch compared to the Stealth 2 Plus hybrid. But the standard Taylormade Stealth 2 hybrid definitely checks more boxes. While it isn’t as long as the “Plus” version, it is playable for more types of golfers.

It is truly a rescue club from the rough and it will allow skilled players to actually attack the pin from tight lies. It feels and sounds nice when you pure the ball and you don’t lose much ball speed when you mis-hit.
