Taylormade Stealth Vs. Callaway Big Bertha Driver Comparison Overview
Game improvement drivers have been pretty hum-drum over the last five or so years. There hasn’t really been any significant innovations. But we think the first quarter of 2022 has seen one of the starkest shifts in driver technology we have seen in years.
We are talking of course, about the Taylormade Stealth driver. With it’s carbon fiber/polyurethane face, the Taylormade Stealth is looking to revolutionize the game improvement category. So how does it stack up against what some call the ultimate game improvement driver? Let’s find out.
Taylormade Stealth Driver Overview
In addition to the revolutionary face construction, the Taylormade Stealth has familiar game improvement features like Twist Face technology and the Inertia Generator.
The first thing most players will notice about the Taylormade Stealth driver is that after just a few swings, you will feel like your swings are faster. And you probably won’t be wrong. The Taylormade Stealth driver was yielding faster swing speeds (between 2 and 4 MPH) for all the testers in our group.
The Taylormade Stealth driver also has the Speed Pocket to increase flex at impact and an extreme rear weight to help with MOI. While the Taylormade Stealth driver is certainly not as large as the Big Bertha, we feel it still does enough to increase forgiveness for the average golfer.
Callaway Big Bertha Driver Overview
The Callaway Big Bertha driver is still the queen of game improvement.
It’s really hard to argue with the size of the Big Bertha driver. It’s almost effortless to find the sweet spot and produce long carrying drives that even roll farther than usual. The Big Bertha was still longer than the Taylormade Stealth driver by an average of 8 yards for all our testers with swing speeds between 85 and 95 MPH.
The Big Bertha also has internal draw bias while the Taylormade Stealth produces a neutral ball flight so the Big Berthas will be more congenial for beginners trying to overcome a slice. Spin rates were almost identical between these two drivers – although the Stealth driver had the better overall feel.
It’s clear from our testing that the Taylormade Stealth drivers will have more to offer mid to low handicap players – the polyurethane face wrap makes it easier to control spin. However, in terms of pure game improvement, the Callaway Big Bertha driver still reigns supreme.

The Taylormade Stealth is one of the most unique and impressive drivers of 2022 so far.
Callaway Big Bertha B21 First Impressions
At first glance, the Big Bertha B21 will look inviting to high handicappers thanks to it’s oversized head.
The Driver is absolutely massive and it has a huge sweet spot which stretches in every direction on the drivers ultra thin steel face.
The weighting is low and deep in the head which leads to a low CG and high MOI, meaning long, high and straight shots.
The driver has all the stability you would expect from a Callaway too with it’s internal jailbreak bars.
The driver has considerably offset too, so if you suffer from a slice, this one is going to be an excellent choice.
It’s pretty easy to start upping your drive distance with the first few swings of the Big Bertha B21 due to it’s massive head and deep weighting.
This can be considered a super game improvement driver that will help you take your game to the next level.

The Big Bertha rides solo but their are plenty of other options from Callaway for players looking for a different type of driver like the Mavrik and Epic Ranges.
Taylormade Stealth Driver – First Impressions
The Taylormade Stealth driver was impressive in almost every respect but we were really interested in testing our first carbon-faced driver.
For the most part, we weren’t disappointed. While it became clear fairly early on that the Taylormade Stealth driver was more for mid to low handicap players, it was awesome to experience something so fresh, new and most importantly, effective.
As you may expect from a Taylormade driver, the Taylormade Stealth features the famed speed pocket and a redesigned inertia generator that was upping the swing speeds of even our higher handicap testers (by 2-3 MPH).
The Stealth Family
The Stealth family includes the Stealth Plus and the Stealth HD drivers. The Stealth Plus is the only one in the line that features a sliding rear weight while the Stealth HD is the only one with internal draw bias.

Callaway Big Bertha B21 – Who is it for?
The Callaway Big Bertha B21 would be most beneficial for high handicappers who are looking for a driver that will help them produce straighter shots that actually make it onto the fairway.
The performance of the Callaway Big Bertha B21 is pretty straightforward – literally. It produces long, straight shots.
In fact, the Big Bertha was yielding an increase of distance for us by an average of 6 yards. Compare that to the average distance increase of 3 yards in the Titleist Tsi2.
Big Bertha B21 Drivers
The Callaway Big Bertha B21 is the only one in the family.
However, you can take a look at older models which have a different footprint and head shape than the B21.
In fact, older versions may be even more congenial to beginners and high handicappers.

Who is the Taylormade Stealth Driver for?
This driver would be amazing for any fast swing speed player looking for maximum distance.
The Taylormade Stealth took everything great about the SIM driver and amplified it by giving it a more reactive face.
