Taylormade M6 Vs. Callaway Epic Max  Driver Comparison Overview

Starting out in golf is never easy. It is one of the most challenging sports you can take up. However, it is also one of the most rewarding – you just have to be able to stick it out. To help, manufacturers often develop really nice drivers that are tailored to beginners.

These entry-level drivers are usually predicated on being forgiving while helping with ball speed and distance. Today we are going to be sharing with you the results of our testing two high-quality beginner-friendly drivers.

Taylormade M6 Driver Overview

The Taylormade M6 driver has some of the most innovative forgiveness features that you are likely to come across.

Very few golf club manufacturers utilize the face curvature technology that helps correct slices and produce straighter shots but Taylormade is one of them. In the Taylormade M6, they put a very minimal curve on the face that works wonders for straight ball flight.

In addition, they also added a 46 gram weight to the back of this club to increase MOI. On average, our slow swing speed testers (75MPH to 88MPh) were getting distances of 264 yards on average.

We did notice that one thing that was holding distance back though was the considerable spin this club was producing off the tee.

If you want less spin off the tee, we would recommend the Taylormade M2 driver – only if you are are an intermediate player though.

Callaway Epic Max Driver Overview

The Callaway Epic Max is also a very forgiving driver that may end up producing more distance for beginners.

The Callaway Epic Max driver is the most forgiving in the Epic line which includes the Epic Speed and Epic Max LS. It has a very large face profile which will look great to beginners at point of address and it even has a sliding rear weight.

The same slower swing speed testers that tried the Taylormade M6 driver were able to get an average of 5 extra yards with the Epic Max due mostly to swings that found the sweet spot more consistently. The Epic Max driver also has an adjustable hosel so you can fine-tune your ball flight.

Overall, we like the premium versatility features of the Epic Max driver. It flew further and was at least as equally forgiving as the Taylormade M6. It will also be more useful to more kinds of players.

The Taylormade M6 would be a great choice for high to mid handicappers.

You get a good amount of distance and forgiveness help with the Taylormade M6 driver. The twist face does make it difficult to work. So just like with the M4 driver, the M6 is not an ideal choice for more seasoned players.

We also really like how the weight pulls your swing down ever so slightly to produce high launch. The extreme rear weight also helps distribute energy from your swing all over the face so you still get pretty impressive ball speed when you miss the sweet spot.
