Ping G425 Vs. PXG 0211 Driver Comparison And Review

The Ping G425 does a nice job of combining premium features with forgiveness performance. The PXG 0211 does the same thing. In fact, the PXG 0211 is supposed to be an entry-level PXG driver.

While we can attest that both of these drivers offer a unique combination of feel and forgiveness, there are still some key differences that you should know about if you are considering picking up either of them. Find out what those differences are in the following article.

PXG 0211 Driver Overview

The PXG 0211 offers up a good combination of workability and feel from the titanium alloy face.

The face flexes freely to produce good ball speed and isn’t restrictive on spin. That coupled with an adjustable hosel affords the player the opportunity to shape their shots to a moderate a degree.

While not the most workable driver on the market, high to mid handicappers should be able to get to where they need to go with it.

Another premium feature of this supposedly game-improvement driver is the hybrid crown. The crown consists of carbon fiber in the center and titanium near the heel and toe.

The titanium stiffens the head for more stability on mis-hits while the carbon allows for more weight to be added low and back in the head. Indeed, the PXG 0211 does a fair job of marrying premium feel and forgiveness.

Ping G425 Driver Overview

While the PXG 0211 does a fair job, he Ping G425 does a great job of unifying premium features and a high degree of forgiveness.

As with most drivers, it starts with the face. The Ping G425 sports a forged titanium face which has a nicer feel on impact than the PXG 0211 driver.

It also does a better job of flexing near the center which, as you can imagine, makes the Ping G425 the longer driver.

But what about forgiveness? The Ping G425 includes 26 grams of sliding weight in the rear of the head that can actually help correct your slice!

The weight can be moved in the neutral, draw or fade position. This also made the Ping G425 the more forgiving driver.

While both of these drivers are forgiving and have a nice feel, the Ping G425 just felt nicer and was more forgiving overall.

Plus, the sliding weight adds a degree of workability that the PXG 0211 can’t match.

Ping G425 Drivers – First Impressions

The Club is pretty understated in it’s design, it’s all black with some white logo writing and you can immediately notice the adjustable weighting in the back that can iron out any inherent flaws in your swing.

The weight on the back is tungsten and weighs 26g, the ultra light internal dragon fly crown allows for more weight in the back and face which is a forged insert, delivering incredible ball speed and accuracy.

The head is packing huge MOI of over 10,000, and it incorprates and ultralight hosel insert and internal ribbing for unrivalled feel, forgiveness and competitive distance.

The club comes in three formats:

The max will suit mid to high handicappers

The LST has a smaller 445cc head for the consistent mid to low to pro players

The SFT is the most forgiving of the drivers and best for beginners who tend to slice

Overall the G425 has excellent feel and consistent and rightfully takes its place as one of the top premium drivers on the market right now.

PXG 0211 First Impressions

We were excited to see an adjustable hosel in what is essentially meant to be an entry-level PXG driver (if such a thing exists).

After the first swing, we were taken aback at how soft and smooth this driver felt. We credit this to the railed sole design which increase MOI but also adds stability by bracing the heel and toe.

The honeycombed polymer insert in the head doesn’t hurt either. Plus, the fact that you can shape shots better with the adjustable hosel actually makes this driver a great value.

PXG 0211 Driver – Who is it for?

The PXG 0211 driver is actually more forgiving than the 0811 so it would be more suitable for mid handicap players that need a little help with shot shaping.

We love the fact that PXG paired a high forgiveness driver with an adjustable hosel. While this driver still isn’t as forgiving as some Callaway and Taylormade entries, it is one of the most forgiving drivers that PXG has ever produced.

All in all we would say that this would be a suitable driver for a mid handicapper that already knows how to shape shots based on the nature of the hole.
