Ping G410 Vs. Taylormade M6 Driver Comparison Overview

Versatility Vs. Forgiveness. It can be hard to tell which one would benefit your game the most. You may be having trouble staying on the fairway with your drives, in which case a little bit of both would probably be the ideal.

If you are having trouble puring the ball off the tee, you may need a driver that is overall more forgiving. To help you determine which driver would be the best fit for your game, we went out and tested the Taylormade M6 and the Ping G410 driver – versatility Vs. forgiveness.

Ping G410 Driver Overview

The Ping G410 really opens up a lot of options for you from the tee.

With an 8-setting adjustable hosel and a sliding weight that can be set in the draw, neutral or fade position, the Ping G410 allows you to shape your shot any way you want. For players struggling with accuracy, adjusting the rear weight can help you hit straighter shots and square up the club face.

Overall, the Ping G410 is less forgiving than the Taylormade M6 driver. You will still need to be fairly accurate on your downswing with it. However, if you are looking for a better combination of forgiveness and versatility from Ping, we would suggest checking out their Ping G425 driver.

The Ping G410 does have something of a bonus in store for all players who pick it up though: a forged titanium face that feels amazing on impact.

Taylormade M6 Driver Overview

The Taylormade M6 driver is more inherently forgiving if you are looking for help with distance.

The sweet spot of this driver is a bit more expansive than on the G410 but we should also mention that it doesn’t feel as nice as the G410. It also lacks versatility so while you need less accuracy at point of impact with the Taylormade M6; you won’t be able to shape your shot to a very high degree.

The Taylormade M6 is nice and lightweight thanks to a carbon fiber sole but it does produce a considerable amount of spin off the tee which hampers it’s overall distance.

If consistent contact is not your issue, then you should definitely pick up the Ping G410 driver. If accurate contact is a problem for you, the Taylormade M6 would be more beneficial even if it does lack overall workability.

Ping G410 Driver – First Impressions

The first thing you will notice about the G410 is the amazing feel at impact.

We expect excellent performance from a Ping driver and the G410 doesn’t disappoint.

Tungsten weighting in the head and toe strecth the massive sweet spot for extra forgiveness.

Thanks to the amazing T9S titanium used to build the face of this driver, you get incredible responsiveness, ball speed and feedback.

The Trajectory tuning 2.0 allows you to adjust the loft and lie by a couple of degrees to perfectly optimize the club for your own particular game.

The streamlined, tubulator technology keeps the aerodynamic design that offers maximum swing speeds while the dragon fly technology keeps the stability in the club for even the fastest swingers.

Another point to notice is that the head is slightly smaller than the legal limit of 460cc at 455 cc’s.

While not as long as the Epic Max, it does have a better feel and more acute ball flight control overall.

The G410 Family

The G410 also comes in the SFT version. The SFT has fixed perimeter weighting to increase MOI which offers the best all round performance

The LST is the low spin model which will help to keep the ball flying more straight, more often.

The heel-oriented CG will also help correct your slice better than the standard G410.

Taylormade M6 First Impressions

The Taylormade M6 certainly looks more intimidating than the M4at first glance but once you pick it up you can feel how light and wieldy it truly is.

The Taylormade M6 features a carbon sole to help offset the additional 46 grams of weight placed in the back of the head. It was very comfortable to swing and we got an instant boost in distance.

The M Family

The M6 is joined by, of course, the M4 and the M2. By comparison, the M2 is a bit lighter than the M6 but ultimately plays shorter.

Ping G410 – Who Are They For?

The Ping G410 driver will work best for mid handicappers who make consistent contact but are looking for enhanced workability.

Overall, the Ping G410 driver has a great level of feel with its more compact head. It’s a matter of titanium vs. stainless steel.

The G410 driver rocks a titanium face while other drivers utilize stainless steel. The T9S face of the G410 driver felt better to us but that may just be a matter of opinion.

The customization options, adjustability and thin face offer a ton of performance in all aspects of the game.

Higher handicap and inconsistent players may not be able to get much use out of the G410 with it’s smaller 455cc head.

Who is the Taylormade M6 for?

The Taylormade M6 would be a great choice for high to mid handicappers.

You get a good amount of distance and forgiveness help with the Taylormade M6 driver. The twist face does make it difficult to work. So just like with the M4 driver, the M6 is not an ideal choice for more seasoned players.

We also really like how the weight pulls your swing down ever so slightly to produce high launch. The extreme rear weight also helps distribute energy from your swing all over the face so you still get pretty impressive ball speed when you miss the sweet spot.
