#1 – Founders Club Tour Tuned – Best Set for Men

The Founders Club Tour Tuned set consists of a 460cc driver, #3-wood, #4 hybrid, irons 6-9, a pitching wedge, sand wedge and a putter. The irons are made from stainless steel and have cavity backs.

Pretty much all the clubs in this set are oversized and very forgiving. The putter though is a blade-style putter and I was a bit disappointed with its feedback and delayed roll action. In every other way though, the Founders Club Tour Tuned set is great for distance and forgiveness. It also comes with a nice stand bag.

Who is it for?

The Founders Club Tour Tuned would be a good set for beginners or high handicappers. The irons aren’t very workable but they will help you launch the ball high and achieve excellent carry distance.

• The bag has a comfortable hip pad

#2 – Founders Club TG2 Complete Womens Golf Set – Best Set for Women

The Founders Club TG2 Complete Womens Golf Set includes a titanium driver, fairway wood, #5 and #6 hybrids, irons 7-9, pitching wedge, sand wedge and a mallet-style putter. The driver is set to a towering 14 degrees and much of the rest of the set is equally high-lofted. So it’s very easy to get the ball airborne with this set.

The irons are made from 431 stainless steel and feature deep cavity backs. I liked that the stock grips were soft. It made the clubs very comfortable overall; but did limit feedback a bit.

I also liked that the woods have large sweet spots; but I felt like the irons should have been a bit bigger since this is a set geared towards beginners. Still, it’s really cool that this set includes shorter #5 and #6 hybrids which will make approaches much easier for beginners.

Who is it for?

The Founders Club TG2 Complete Womens Golf Set is a good choice if you need a lot of help from the tee and on long approaches. The woods are long and very forgiving and you get good long iron replacements with the hybrids that are included.

Founders Club Irons Reviews

#1 – Founders Club Fresh Metal Irons

The Founders Club Fresh Metal irons are cavity back irons that come stock with stepped, steel shafts. However, you may not be able to find a new set of these irons as Founders Club has discontinued them.

Still, a used set of Fresh Metal irons will still be forgiving and offer a modest degree of workability. I liked that the soles weren’t enormous in these irons which are considered game improvement irons. Heel-side mis-hits were flying amazingly straight. The Founders Club Fresh Metal irons have an interesting progressive weight design too.

The long irons have toe-biased weighting, the mid irons have a more neutral weighting and the short irons have heel-biased weighting.

Who Are They for?

The Fresh Metal irons would be good for any player looking for more stability throughout their iron set. I found that the progressive weighting covered up my most common mis-hits with the short, mid and long irons.

Pros:

• Good look at address
• Forgiving
• Good control throughout the set

Cons:

• A bit heavy

#2 – The Judge Irons

Right away, I could tell that these were game improvement irons. The Judge irons have a chunky look in the bag and at address. This will be a welcome sight for high handicappers but maybe off-putting to more experienced players.

As I expected, the Judge irons were very easy to launch and very forgiving. It was very easy to find the sweet spot and once I did, I was hitting high-arcing, straight shots consistently.

Who Are They for?

The Founders Club Judge irons would be best for mid to high handicappers who are looking to improve launch and accuracy.

#3 – The Bomb Irons

The Bomb irons have a striking look with their black PVD finish and cambered trailing edges. I really liked the way these irons performed from the rough. They seem to cut through turf very easily and I was able to get clean contact from the cabbage consistently.

The Bomb irons also have perimeter weighting and progressive offset. The CG feels nice and low too. This combination made it very easy for me to square up and get high, straight flight on all kinds of lies.

Who Are They for?

The Bomb irons would actually work well for both mid and low handicappers. For cast irons, they have a surprisingly soft and responsive feel that will appeal to better players.

• Smooth turf interaction
• Graphite or steel shafts available

Cons:

• Stock shafts are a bit too long

#4 – Founders Club Double Sole Hybrid

This is one of the most unique hybrids I have ever tested. The Double sole design makes for very smooth turf interaction. It also makes the Founders Club Double Sole Hybrid an excellent rescue club – definitely on the same level as some of Taylormade’s hybrids.

But that’s not what makes this club unique. What made this hybrid club stand out to me was the relatively high CG placement. This allowed me to hit more penetrating shots that jive better with my aggressive tempo. Still, the Founders Club Double Sole Hybrid has extreme perimeter weighting so you get good stability on toe and heel-side mis-hits.

Who is it for?

I can see this hybrid club in the bags of mid and low handicappers. It delivers lower launch than expected and is viable from pretty much any lie.

Pros:

• Black finish
• Good forgiveness
• Great rescue club

Cons:

• Not great for beginners

Who Are Founders Club Golf Clubs for?

In my testing, I found that this company makes golf clubs for pretty much any skill level. Going into testing, I thought all the clubs would be geared more or less towards beginners and high handicappers. But the company also makes really good player’s clubs too.

Are They Good for Beginners?

Yes. Founders Club produces a collection of game improvement clubs that are excellent for beginners. Not only because they are very reasonably priced; but they actually do provide good forgiveness on the course. The full sets in particular are great starting points for any beginner.

Are Founders Club Golf Clubs Clones?

Founders Club does not produce clone golf clubs. Most of their clubs have a very unique and original design while still incorporating proven game improvement elements.

Are They Good for Seniors?

Many of the Founders Club golf clubs can be outfitted with graphite shafts making them a viable choice for seniors. In fact, many of their right-handed clubs can be paired with senior flex shafts.

Final Decision

So are Founders Club golf clubs any good?

From my testing sessions, I would answer that question with a resounding yes. I really liked that they make a variety of clubs for players at all skill levels.

I particularly liked the Double Sole hybrid and the Fresh Metal irons. They offer a good combination of forgiveness and performance. Plus, Founders Club golf clubs tend to be very affordable.

The only caveat I can think of is durability. Some of the clubs that come in the cheaper complete sets don’t seem very durable. But other than that, Founders Club makes golf clubs that are comparable to Taylormade, Callaway and other major golf club OEMs.
