Dynamic Gold S200 Review – Specs, Flex, Weight
The Dynamic Gold series of shafts from True Temper are a staple in the PGA Tour and at your local club.
Why? Because these are highly refined shafts that work for almost all skill levels.
The Dynamic Gold series is broken up into different flex categorizations. One of the higher flex options in the Dynamic Gold series is the S200 line. Even within the Dynamic Gold S200 line, there are several flexes to choose from.
This can be confusing for many inexperienced golfers. In reality, your best bet is to simply go in for a professional fitting. However, it never hurts to do your research first. So in the following review, we will be taking a close look at the Dynamic Gold S200 shaft specifically. Will this be your next weapon of choice? Let’s find out!
Dynamic Gold S200 Overview
The Dynamic Gold S200 is a tour-weighted steel shaft. None of the length versions exceed what is tournament legal (46 inches).
The Dynamic Gold S200 features a high bend point and a relatively stiff tip.
This allows for maximum control over the club head. Indeed, you don’t get much “life” from the Dynamic Gold S200 and everything is as you would expect. Overall the Dynamic Gold S200 is extremely consistent and if you have ever gamed a True Temper shaft before, you know that you can expect uniform performance on virtually every swing.
The great thing about the Dynamic Gold S200 is that you can expect the same kick point, response, control and flex whether you are taking a full swing with your wood or a knockdown shot with your wedges.
Why is Dynamic Gold So Popular?
One of the reasons this series of shafts is so popular is because they are incredibly consistent.
In fact, True Temper is known for making incredibly consistent shafts that incorporate innovative technology like a variable wall design. Another reason for their popularity is that these shafts can meet the needs of a wide array of players, which is why you see them on tour and at your local pro shop.
How Does the Dynamic Gold S200 Perform?
The performance hallmark of the Dynamic Gold S200 shaft is the low, penetrating launch it generates. If you are looking for more distance between shots, the Dynamic Gold S200 will likely be a good fit for you.
The Dynamic Gold S200 also has a high kick (or bend) point which means that the shaft bows closer to the grip than to the middle of the shaft or to the club head. This results in a low launch that is preferred by players with faster swing speeds.
The Dynamic Gold S200 shafts are also marked as being slightly lighter than the Dynamic Gold S300 and Dynamic Gold S400 shafts.

The Dynamic Gold S200 shaft is available in regular, stiff and extra stiff flexes.
Even the regular version of this shaft will only be suitable if you’re swinging your irons at about 85 MPH. The stiff will likely be a better fit if your swing speed is in the 90’s and the extra stiff will probably only be fitted with players swinging irons 100+ MPH.
What Weights Are Available? What Swing Speeds Do They Suit?
The True Temper Dynamic Gold S200 shaft is only available in 127 gram versions.
You can move up a class if you want a more substantial shaft as the Dynamic Gold S300 comes in 130 gram versions. The Dynamic Gold S200 however, will help slower swing speed players get their club head speed up – so long as you are using the right flex and a moderately light club head.
