Dynamic Gold R300 Review – Specs, Flex, Weight
If you have seemed to hit a wall with your golf game, it’s probably time to start scrutinizing your gear.
Many would argue that the shafts you are using make the most impact on your swing – and many would be right.
In a lot of cases, the clubs you are using will be ineffective if you aren’t using shafts that match your swing tempo and swing speed.
Even if you’ve invested top dollar on your clubs, without the right shafts it will all be for naught.
The Dynamic Gold series of shafts from True Temper is one of the most popular because they have been designed for peak performance.
And whether you are a high, low or mid handicapper, the Dynamic Gold series has a shaft for you.
Today we will be taking a look at the Dynamic Gold R300 shaft – a steel shaft that would be a good choice for mid to high handicappers.
Dynamic Gold R300 Overview
As you may have already guessed, the Dynamic Gold R300 is a regular flex shaft.
It comes in a variety of weights so you can choose one that matches your swing speed the best. Most people use this steel shaft for irons and wedges.
The Dynamic Gold R300 shaft has a high kick point which means that it flexes just under the grip.
This naturally makes for a pretty high launch which is something you need to be keenly aware of since the naturally high launch may clash with your current irons.
For instance, if your current irons have a low CG and deep undercut cavity, pairing them with a shaft like the Dynamic Gold R300 may produce a ballooning launch that is hard to control.
However, if higher launch is something that your game needs, this is definitely a shaft you should consider.
The Dynamic Gold R300 also has a nice solid feel that works really well if your irons naturally give a lot of feedback.
Why is Dynamic Gold So Popular?
If you have played golf for more than a year, you have probably heard of and seen Dynamic Gold shafts.
True Temper is a titan in the shaft production market and the Dynamic Gold series is a big reason for that.
The reason that Dynamic Gold shafts are so popular is that they provide enough accuracy and strength for more aggressive swingers; but they perform well for players with more deliberate tempos as well.
You can basically get a Dynamic Gold shaft for your irons no matter what kind of swing speed or swing tempo you have.
How Does the Dynamic Gold R300 Perform?
First and foremost, the Dynamic Gold R300 shaft feels great as you load the shaft.
The kick point is surprisingly high so you get pretty good launch out of it. When you pure the ball, you are rewarded with very satisfying feedback.
If you have a steep swing, you will also get good launch from them. But be warned: steep swings may launch the ball too high.
In fact, some of our steeper swinging testers were actually losing yardage because the apex height was simply too much.
The regular flex is a good middle ground that will likely appeal to mid to low handicappers.

What Flexes Are Available? What Swing Speed Do They Suit?
As you can see from the chart above, the Dynamic Gold R300 only comes in regular flex.
Regular flex is typically a good flex for mid to low handicappers with swing speeds in the range of 85-90 MPH. However, weight is another major consideration.
And as you can see the Dynamic Gold R300 comes in a wide range of weights.
What Weights Are Available? What Swing Speeds Do They Suit?
You can get a Dynamic Gold R300 shaft anywhere from 124 grams to a whopping 137 grams.
If you have a slower swing speed, you won’t need all that weight. In fact, if you are swinging under 85 MPH with your irons, it would behoove you to get a 124-128 gram Dynamic Gold R300 shaft.
However, if you really load up the shaft on your swing, we recommend staying in the 132-134 gram range.
