Cobra Radspeed Vs. Taylormade M6 Driver Comparison Overview

Cobra makes drivers so packed with features that it can make your head spin. So to help anyone who is considering the Cobra Radspeed driver, we have provided a brief yet essential overview of it’s features, benefits and flaws.

Every test needs a control though, so we put the Radspeed up against the Taylormade M6 to see how it performed on key metrics in comparison. Let’s get into it.

Cobra Radspeed Driver Overview

With extreme forward weighting, the Radpseed is all about eliminating side spin off the tee.

And with 28 grams of weight placed in the front of the head, it certainly achieves this. Side spin rates were way lower with the Radspeed driver than with the Taylormade M6 driver and as a result, we were getting an extra 11 yards of distance.

The milled face also helped push ball speeds with plenty of flex compared to the stiffer face of the Taylormade M6 driver. In terms of forgiveness, these two drivers are on the same par. The Radspeed family also includes the Radspeed XB which is more forgiving thanks to emphasized rear weighting.

Then there is the Radspeed XD driver with heel-oriented weighting to help correct slices and send the ball flying straighter. The standard Radspeed is the best choice for mid to low handicappers though.

Taylormade M6 Driver Overview

The Taylormade M6 is a more basic driver in almost every regard.

Be that as it may, the Taylormade M6 is actually a bit more comfortable to swing. It has a carbon crown like the Radspeed but it also has a heavy rear weight that helps to pull the club head down on the downswing.

However, the spin rates we were getting with the Taylormade M6 driver were in the midrange which was hampering its overall distance. The Taylormade M6 driver was yielding average distances of 262 yards while the Radspeed was sending the ball 273 yards on average.

The Taylormade M6 driver also had a less satisfying feel than the Cobra Radspeed driver. Even shots in the dead-center of the sweet spot tended to feel hollow and thin.

Overall the Cobra Radspeed driver played longer and had a better feel. While forgiveness was pretty much equal between these two drivers, we can say with confidence that all the features of the Cobra Radspeed really do amount to a driver worth taking a look at.

The Taylormade M6 does a little more of everything that the M4 driver does.

Cobra Radspeed – First Impressions

“Like it’s predecessor, the Speedzone driver, the Radspeed feels light and wieldy in the hands. You can feel and hear the quality materials used after your first swing.

We were really impressed with the milled face of this driver. It feels incredible and is extremely reactive.

The Radspeed is really starting to challenging the biggest names in the driver department like the Pings, Taylormades and Titleists.

The Radspeed Family

The Radspeed XB driver features back-biased radial weighting (20 grams in the back and 8 in the front) which allows for higher, straighter shots.

The Radspeed XD driver features heel-biased weighting (8 grams in front, 10 in the middle and 14 in the back) perfect for those looking to avoid a slice.

Taylormade M6 First Impressions

The Taylormade M6 certainly looks more intimidating than the M4at first glance but once you pick it up you can feel how light and wieldy it truly is.

The Taylormade M6 features a carbon sole to help offset the additional 46 grams of weight placed in the back of the head. It was very comfortable to swing and we got an instant boost in distance.

The M Family

The M6 is joined by, of course, the M4 and the M2. By comparison, the M2 is a bit lighter than the M6 but ultimately plays shorter.

Cobra Radspeed – Who are the for?

The Cobra Radspeed driver is for low to mid handicappers who prefer forward-biased center of gravity.

The bottom line is that the Cobra Radspeed driver will produce less spin off the tee than even the Titleist Tsi3. It’s remarkably workable as well thanks to the two adjustable weights in the front and back.

Our only real gripe about this driver is that adjusting the weights is kind of tricky. It’s not as easy as the sliding weight of the Titleist TSi3 driver. The TSi3 driver also has a slew of custom shaft options.

The Radspeed Family

The Rad X B

The Rad X B has everything the Radspeed has but it offers more forgiveness and easier launch than the Radspeed.

There is less spin and that offers straighter shots

The Rad X D

The Draw version of the driver, super forgiving for High Handicappers who are prone to slicing the ball.

Who is the Taylormade M6 for?

The Taylormade M6 would be a great choice for high to mid handicappers.

You get a good amount of distance and forgiveness help with the Taylormade M6 driver. The twist face does make it difficult to work. So just like with the M4 driver, the M6 is not an ideal choice for more seasoned players.

We also really like how the weight pulls your swing down ever so slightly to produce high launch. The extreme rear weight also helps distribute energy from your swing all over the face so you still get pretty impressive ball speed when you miss the sweet spot.
