The idea is that if the club is lighter, you will be able to swing it faster. It’s a simple concept and one that Cobra often espouses in their club design.

Today we will be taking a look at the complete Air X golf club set. Every club in this set was designed to be lightweight so that slower swingers can get their smash factor up and gain more distance.

But what about accuracy? What does every club in the set bring to the table? Who are the Air X golf clubs for?

The set consists of a driver, 3-wood, 4-hybrid, 5-hybrid, irons 6-PW, sand wedge and a blade putter.

The woods in this set all feature no offset hosel which is supposed to give them a more traditional look – and it does.

The lofts of the irons are a bit on the weak side so players can get the ball up in the air with ease.

To give you an idea of how light the set is, the driver checks in at 277 grams. Naturally, our first impression of this set was that it was lightweight and very easy to manage.

The hybrids do have offset and on top of that, heel weighting. This is a tandem of design elements that help if you are dealing with a slice.

The hybrids are adept at producing straight shots that stay on the fairway. The putter feels nicely balanced and produces smooth roll almost immediately.

The woods and hybrids have smoothed out edges which gives them an aerodynamic look. The irons also look beefy and forgiving.

Driver

The driver features heel weighting which produces a draw bias – perfect if you’ve got a slice to eliminate.

The weight is kept down through the use of a carbon fiber crown panel. Our testers were averaging 245.5 yards with this driver.

While that may not sound amazing, keep in mind that most of our testers swing their drivers under 90 MPH.

Fairway Woods

The 3-wood is very easy to swing and also features heel weighting. This is a 16° wood that launches above its weight class.

The CG is nice and low so you get excellent apex height from it. If you have a more deliberate tempo, these woods will be perfect for you.

They will launch optimally so that you get max carry distance. And like the driver in this set, the Cobra Air X fairway wood features a carbon fiber crown panel.

Hybrids

The Cobra Air X complete golf club set includes two hybrids: a 4H and 5H.

Like the woods in this set, the hybrids feature heel weighting so they create a draw bias. We liked that the hybrids produced a clear, crisp, crack when you pure the ball.

Away from the sweet spot, you get fairly straight flight. At address, they look really clean and inviting.

The spin rates were a little high for our liking; but that’s to be expected from what are essentially game improvement hybrids. They will still be excellent for players with a sweeping swing and slower tempo.

Irons

The Cobra Air X irons feel light in the hands despite their considerable footprint.

They are offset to help you keep the ball on the fairway. The soles are of moderate thickness so you get at least some help in terms of turf interaction.

These are cavity back irons with fairly weak lofts. For example, the 9-iron checks in at 40°. While it’s easy to get the ball up in the air with these irons, it’s difficult to bend the ball.

However, these irons are very forgiving. Our testers had no problem finding the sweet spot quickly and consistently.

Wedges

The Cobra Air X wedges are forgiving and provide excellent launch.

You don’t get clear feel out of them – it was hard to tell what part of the face we made contact with.

But the spin rates and launch are optimal for chip shots and bump and runs.

Putter

The blade putter looks really clean at address.

There are no distractions, just a perfectly weighted putter head that allows you to remain smooth throughout your follow through.
