Callaway Rogue ST Max Vs. PXG 0211 Driver Comparison Overview

It seems like golf club manufacturers have really been stepping up their game as of late. New technologies, new models and unheard of features feel like the norm in 2022. But while some manufacturers are forging new paths, PXG has introduced a simpler driver.

The latest PXG 0211 driver came out just last year and it was intended for beginners and high handicappers as sort of a more “accessible” PXG driver. In today’s comparison, we are measuring it up to the new Callaway Rogue ST Max driver.

Callaway Rogue ST Max Driver Overview

The Callaway Rogue ST Max driver will appeal to players dealing with a slice from the tee.

The Callaway Rogue ST Max is also the heaviest driver in the new Rogue ST family. It has a 26 gram tungsten cartridge placed low for increased MOI. In order to offset the heavy tungsten weight, Callaway used a titanium body to hold things together.

This gives the Rogue ST Max a solid feel at impact and a deep, rich sound. While the Rogue ST Max doesn’t provide the lowest spin rates of the drivers in the Rogue ST family, it is the most forgiving and has a large footprint.

Indeed, the Rogue ST Max will inspire confidence at point of address and was adding 4-5 yards to the drives of our high handicap testers on average.

PXG 0211 Driver Overview

The PXG 0211 is simple, no-nonsense driver that will appeal to high handicappers.

One of the most impressive things about this driver is the apex height it yields. The single weight is placed low and deep in the head to produce high-arcing shots. The face is made of a titanium alloy that feels very solid on contact and produces good ball speed.

Good, but not great. We used a launch monitor to compare ball speed between these two drivers and the Rogue ST Max was faster almost every time. As you can imagine, this led to more distance nine times out of ten. It should also be noted that both these drivers have adjustable hosels.

While we preferred the feel of the PXG 0211 driver, you can’t argue with distance. In terms of game-improvement the Callaway Rogue St Max driver was the superior club. For mid to low handicappers, we would suggest checking out the Rogue ST LS driver.

PXG 0211 First Impressions

We were excited to see an adjustable hosel in what is essentially meant to be an entry-level PXG driver (if such a thing exists).

After the first swing, we were taken aback at how soft and smooth this driver felt. We credit this to the railed sole design which increase MOI but also adds stability by bracing the heel and toe.

The honeycombed polymer insert in the head doesn’t hurt either. Plus, the fact that you can shape shots better with the adjustable hosel actually makes this driver a great value.

Callaway Rogue ST Max  Driver – First Impressions

After our first swing with the Roge ST Max, we were very impressed by how solid and satisfying it felt.

Part of the solid feel comes from the internal bracing bars that are more laterally expansive to provide body support both horizontally and vertically. That, coupled with the titanium low-profile body bracing make for an exceptionally solid driver with a nice, comfortable and low center of gravity.

The Callaway Rogue ST Max also features an adjustable hosel for fine-tuning your shot shape.

The Rogue ST Family

The Rogue ST Max is the only one with a 26 gram tungsten weight. The Rogue ST Max D, Rogue ST Max LS and Rogue ST LS have either 23 gram or 20 gram weights. The Rogue ST LS was the most workable of the bunch and produced the lowest spin off the tee.

PXG 0211 Driver – Who is it for?

The PXG 0211 driver is actually more forgiving than the 0811 so it would be more suitable for mid handicap players that need a little help with shot shaping.

We love the fact that PXG paired a high forgiveness driver with an adjustable hosel. While this driver still isn’t as forgiving as some Callaway and Taylormade entries, it is one of the most forgiving drivers that PXG has ever produced.

All in all we would say that this would be a suitable driver for a mid handicapper that already knows how to shape shots based on the nature of the hole.
