Ping 0211 Vs. Taylormade Stealth Driver Comparison Overview

PXG is known as a brand that really pulls out all the stops for their clubs. They usually have premium materials and features that set them apart from other clubs. Today though, we will be taking a look at one of their entry-level drivers.

How does the PXG 0211 driver fare against one of the newest and hottest drivers on the market? Find out in the following comparison overview.

PXG 0211 Driver Overview

The PXG 0211 driver is a stripped down version of some of PXG’s more expensive driver; but it will be a great fit in the bags’ of mid to high handicappers.

The latest PXG 0211 driver debuted in the 2021 and it was an immediate hit with mid to high handicappers. When we got our hands on it to test, we were first taken with how it looked. In the bag and at point of address, the multi-material crown looks alluring.

The smooth black finish looks clean and will make you want to get down to the range as often as possible. In terms of performance, the PXG 0211 draws your swing down with its low and deep weight. Launch angles are high for the most part and the titanium alloy face plays hot.

There is a bit of a draw bias so be aware of that. The hosel is also adjustable so you can tweak shot trajectory a bit (+/- about 2 degrees).

Taylormade Stealth Driver Overview

The new Stealth driver features technology we have never seen in a driver.

Released in early 2022, the Taylormade Stealth driver sent ripples through the golf community by using a carbon fiber and polyurethane face wrap. The Stealth driver is incredibly light but still features the asymmetrical sole panel that made the SIM drivers so popular.

So like the PXG 0211, it creates a low CG and high launch. The Stealth driver was also better at producing fast ball speed on shots struck near the sole so it was a bit more forgiving overall. The Stealth driver also played longer by about 8 yards; but the feel at contact was a little odd.

In this case, Taylormade did a better job of using innovative materials to create a superior driver. The PXG 0211 driver has a nice feel, good looks and will launch your ball high; but the Stealth driver is more forgiving and plays longer.

The Taylormade Stealth is one of the most unique and impressive drivers of 2022 so far.

PXG 0211 First Impressions

We were excited to see an adjustable hosel in what is essentially meant to be an entry-level PXG driver (if such a thing exists).

After the first swing, we were taken aback at how soft and smooth this driver felt. We credit this to the railed sole design which increase MOI but also adds stability by bracing the heel and toe.

The honeycombed polymer insert in the head doesn’t hurt either. Plus, the fact that you can shape shots better with the adjustable hosel actually makes this driver a great value.

Taylormade Stealth Driver – First Impressions

The Taylormade Stealth driver was impressive in almost every respect but we were really interested in testing our first carbon-faced driver.

For the most part, we weren’t disappointed. While it became clear fairly early on that the Taylormade Stealth driver was more for mid to low handicap players, it was awesome to experience something so fresh, new and most importantly, effective.

As you may expect from a Taylormade driver, the Taylormade Stealth features the famed speed pocket and a redesigned inertia generator that was upping the swing speeds of even our higher handicap testers (by 2-3 MPH).

The Stealth Family

The Stealth family includes the Stealth Plus and the Stealth HD drivers. The Stealth Plus is the only one in the line that features a sliding rear weight while the Stealth HD is the only one with internal draw bias.

PXG 0211 Driver – Who is it for?

The PXG 0211 driver is actually more forgiving than the 0811 so it would be more suitable for mid handicap players that need a little help with shot shaping.

We love the fact that PXG paired a high forgiveness driver with an adjustable hosel. While this driver still isn’t as forgiving as some Callaway and Taylormade entries, it is one of the most forgiving drivers that PXG has ever produced.

All in all we would say that this would be a suitable driver for a mid handicapper that already knows how to shape shots based on the nature of the hole.
