Callaway Paradym Ai Smoke Vs Callaway Paradym Fairway Wood
It’s been a year since the release of the original Paradym woods. Has anything changed? Read on to find out.
Callaway Paradym Ai Smoke Fairway Wood Overview
“The new Ai Smoke features Ai Smart Face technology, split mass weighting, carbon fiber chassis and a low/forward tungsten weight.”
The sole has the “smoke” graphics which look a bit busy; but the crown looks clean. The shallow face depth gives the Callaway Paradym Ai Smoke a laterally forgiving look as well.
I was amazed that mis-hits all across the face were still garnering good ball speed. This made for forgiveness and impressive distance. The Callaway Paradym Ai Smoke fairway wood sells for $350.
Callaway Paradym Fairway Wood Overview
“Last year’s Paradym FW featured Jailbreak Batwing technology, forged carbon sole, tungsten speed cartridge and AI-designed face.”
The Paradym FW has moderate offset so it looks forgiving but not audacious behind the ball.
Overall, it gave up about 6.8 yards of carry on average to the Ai Smoke FW but was just as forgiving.
Spin rates were low, launch was high and mis-hits were still producing favorable lies. The Paradym FW retails for $300.
“The main change from the original Paradym FW to the new Callaway Paradym Ai Smoke Fairway Wood is distance. It’s clear that the Callaway Paradym Ai Smoke plays longer.”

Callaway Paradym Ai Smoke Max Fairway Wood – First Impressions
“On my second swing with the Callaway Paradym Ai Smoke Max, I managed 270 yards of carry.”
So ya, needless to say, I was impressed right away. And that was a shot that was off-line by more than 15 degrees. My first impression of this fairway wood was that it played ridiculously long with very little punishment on errant strikes.
Callaway Paradym Fairway Woods – First Impressions
“With just one glance, you can tell that this was a fairway wood built to modern specifications.”
What we mean is that they bear more of a resemblance to modern hybrid clubs than any other Callaway wood we have seen before.
They were certainly built with mid and high handicappers in mind – although the Triple Diamond version definitely has something to offer lower handicap players.
Upon swinging the Callaway Paradym Fairway Woods, we were impressed with the lowered spin and moderate increase in carry distance for most of our testers.
Callaway Paradym Fairway Woods Family
“The standard Callaway Paradym Fairway Woods are great for mid and high handicappers.”
The Paradym X fairway woods have a slight draw bias so they would be the best choice for players struggling to fix a slice.
The Triple Diamond Paradym fairway woods have the most classic-looking profile and the deepest faces.
This is the best choice if you are able to work the ball and want to attack long approaches more aggressively.

Who is the Callaway Paradym Ai Smoke Max Fairway Wood for?
“The Callaway Paradym Ai Smoke Max would be a great option for players who need high launch and a lot of help with distance.”
And you would think the above description would refer only to high handicappers; but I can see mid handicappers getting good use out of this fairway as well.
I mean, 270 yards of carry is about an 8 yard improvement over my average. The best thing about this club is that it plays stupid long so if that appeals to you, I would suggest going in for a fitting.
