Titleist TSR2 Vs Titleist TSR3 Fairway Wood Comparison Overview
At a glance, there isn’t much that separates the Titleist TSR2 and the Titleist TSR3 fairway woods in terms of looks.
Like the TSR2 driver, the Titleist TSR2 fairway wood has a more elongated head than the TSR3.
At address, that’s pretty much the only difference between these fairway woods. But after testing both of them side-by-side, we can confidently say that they were made for different types of players. Which fairway wood will be best for you? Read on to find out!
Titleist TSR2 Fairway Wood Overview
“The Titleist TSR2 features the SureFit adjustable hosel which affords players 16 unique loft/lie positions.”
For us, the A1 setting was ideal. This is where you will see the club sit completely square behind the ball. The Titleist TSR2 also features an ultra-low CG to make it easier to launch.
Indeed, the Titleist TSR2 was launching slightly higher than the Titleist TSR3. As you can imagine, the spin was also higher than the Titleist TSR3. But the 2400 RPM spin rate range was ideal for shaping shots and being able to land fast greens.
While stronger swingers will likely be turned off by the spin and launch, the Titleist TSR2 gives a wide array of mid handicappers the ability to shape shots and be more aggressive from the deck or tee.
Titleist TSR3 Fairway Wood Overview
“The biggest difference between the Titleist TSR2 and the Titleist TSR3 is the adjustable CG weight system.”
The Titleist TSR3 allows you to shift CG into 5 different positions from left to right. This makes it very versatile and allows players to shape shots more acutely than with the Titleist TSR2, even though the TSR3 produces lower spin numbers.
The muted spin has a lot to do with the forward-positioned internal weight. Stringer swingers will surely be drawn to the Titleist TSR3 because of the lower spin and lower launch.
And even though the Titleist TSR3 has a more traditional, symmetrical head shape than the TSR2, it doesn’t diminish forgiveness at all. The Titleist TSR3 is just as forgiving as the TSR2.
“The Titleist TSR2 will benefit slower swing speed players. But the Titleist TSR3, in our opinion, has more mass appeal. Skilled players will appreciate the lower trajectory and stronger flight. Mid handicappers will appreciate the forgiveness and the ability to cover up swing biases.”
