Titleist TSR2 Vs Callaway Paradym Driver Comparison Overview

It’s no secret that the key to instant distance gains is high launch and low spin.

It seems that every golf club manufacturer is scrambling to make drivers that launch high and mute spin as much as possible.

Such is the case with the Callaway Paradym and Titleist TSR2 drivers. Both drivers are said to deliver high launch and low spin; but do they live up to such promises? And if so, which one does the better overall job? Read on to find out!

Titleist TSR2 Driver Overview

Titleist TSR2 Driver

“The Titleist TSR2 driver features an aerospace-grade titanium face and the SureFit adjustable hosel.”

A lot of work went into this face. Not only is it made from extremely resilient aerospace-grade titanium, it has also been milled for varying thicknesses. We found that the Titleist TSR2 was very consistent across the face. We were losing very little ball speed away from the sweet spot.

However, we were a bit disappointed at the launch angles. They weren’t as steep as we were expecting from a driver that was promised to be high-launching. Still, the spin rates were low as advertised: they stayed in the 2000-2100 RPM range for the entirety of our testing.

The combination of mid launch and low spin yielded an average carry distance of 257.6 yards for our testers after three swings each. Not too shabby.

Callaway Paradym Driver Overview

“The most interesting things about the Paradym driver are the all-carbon fiber body and the sliding CG weight.”

But like the Titleist TSR2, we were disappointed by the launch angles. They were lower than we were anticipating. We were also bummed to see that the Paradym driver spun significantly more than the Titleist TSR2 – about 2000 RPMs more on average.

To make matters worse, the sliding CG weight only made a moderate impact on shot shape. However, we did still manage an average carry distance of 249.8 yards with the Callaway Paradym driver. Yes, that’s not as long as the Titleist TSR2; but it’s still nothing to scoff at.

“While we wouldn’t call either of these drivers high-launch drivers, the Titleist TSR2 definitely did a better job of delivering on its promises. It launched about as high as the Callaway Paradym but kept spin rates thoroughly in check with a forward-position weight. The Titleist TSR2 is the longer driver and it performed better overall.”

Titleist Tsi2 First Impressions

At first, the Titleist Tsi2 doesn’t look like much. But it’s a driver that has to be swung to be believed.

One of the things that really helps bump this driver up a few points is the adjustable hosel.

It is no secret in the golf world that the majority of tour pros that aren’t sponsored are using Titleist and it is the majority of the winners too.

The Tsi2 provides an excellent blend of forgiveness, feel and distance to take your game to the next level.

This customization of loft and lie angles adds instant value to this driver.

However, it’s the feel of this driver at impact that really steals the show.

The Tsi Family

The Titleist Tsi2 is the most ofrgiving driver in the Tsi fanily which also includes the Tsi1, Tsi3 and Tsi4. The Tsi4 is for lower handicap players and features a 425cc head.

The Tsi3 would be best for mid to low handicap players and the Tsi1 is a lightweight version but produces considerable spin off the tee.

Callaway Paradym Driver – First Impressions

“The Blue colored full carbon chassis of the Callaway Paradym really grew on us as the round wore on, espeically due to the exceptional forgiveness from the clubs Ai enhanced face”

The Ai enhancement of the forged titanium face ensures that the ball is going straight from almost any area across it.

It is also big and inviting in the Paradym and Paradym X models.

The Triple diamond is more compact and will offer tour players longer distance and more workability in the 2023 season.

The Face Cup Technology wraps around the face to extend the forgiveness even further and enhance the flex across the face.

The Ai Jailbreak speedbar technology is still on offer but it is reduced to a single bar again with two prons at the bottom. This offers enhanced ballspeeds and increased stability.

The 360 Degree Carbon chassis is a first in the industry and offers unrivalled weight savings which are then redistributed to enhance the ball speeds on offer.

Overall these clubs are longer, more forgiving and feel better than their predecessors.

The only problem is the premium price tag that comes with them which is close to $700 or £600.

Callaway Paradym Family

The Paradym has an adjustable 15g slot that can be adjusted to suit your swing style.

It offers mid level spin and superb distance. Were getting around 10 yards further the Rogue ST Driver from 2022.

For someone that tends to draw the ball a little bit, the Paradym X was drawing a bit much for my liking but it will definitely suit a slicer.

It is the highest launching, highest spinning model with the shortest distance.

It is probably worth sacrificing that extra distance to actually land on the Fairway more consistently.

Expect to see the Paradym Triple Diamond extensively on tour this year, while some Tour Pros will prefer the regular Paradym.

The Diamond version has a 450cc head, and adjustable weighting. It offers stronger lofts, the most distance and the lowest launch angle.

Titleist Tsi2 Selling Points

  • Aerospace grade titanium
  • Vertical MOI enhancements
  • Adjustable hosel
  • 460cc head
  • Aerodynamic head shape

Callaway Paradym Selling Points

  • 15% Tighter Downrange Dispersion
  • More Distance
  • The face is extremely forgiving
  • Triple Diamond plays hot
  • Plenty of adjustable weighting
  • X version is great for a slice.

Titleist Tsi2 – Who is it for?

The Titleist Tsi2 would be best for low to mid handicappers who want a great-feeling driver.

While some workability is lost in the architecture of the face and size of the head, there’s no denying the awesome feel and reaction of the face.

The forgiveness is there too. You will find that the Tsi2 will still yield impressive distance on shots around the sweet spot.

Tsi Drivers

All of the drivers in the Tsi family feature the same aerospace-grade titanium face construction.

However, the Tsi2 is probably the most congenial for beginners and high handicappers.

Who is the Callaway Paradym Driver for?

“The 3 Paradym drivers on offer from Callaway have enough firepower to suit every type of golfer possible.”

While the draw bias X version was a little too draw bias for us. Some players who don’t slice the ball have found it incredibly straight. It launches high and it is the most forgiving by far. Slightly less distance than the regular Paradym.

The regular Paradym will be the best choice for almost all players. It has an adjustable 15g weight on the back that will suit and shot type.

This one is jam packed with the latest ai technology and carbon body. We found it 10 yards longer and more forgiving than the 2022 model.

The triple diamond is going to be limited to the best strikers in the game.

We were spraying this one left and right but when we did catch it flush, it flew for miles.

Overall a very impressive if not slightly expensive set of drivers.

Distance: 97/100

Accuracy: 95/100

Forgiveness: 96/100

Feel & Control: 94/100

Overall Score:  96/100
