Titleist TSi2 Vs. PXG 0811 Driver Comparison Overview

In our experience, PXG are at their best when they are combining high-end materials with innovative adjustability features. For our money, Titleist clubs are best when they are helping lower-handicap players get the accuracy they need from driver to wedges.

Today we are going to be taking a look at one driver from each of these manufacturers that do a great job of exemplifying the best attributes of these companies.

Titleist TSi2 Driver Overview

The Titleist TSi2 driver lacks some of the versatility of other drivers in the Tsi line. However, it is one of the more forgiving drivers that Titleist produces.

And that’s not to say that the TSi2 lacks accuracy or versatility. It still has the adjustable hosel which allows players to fine-tune loft. Still though, the TSi2 lacks the adjustable CG weight that the TSi3 has.

The TSi2 does produce little spin off the tee though and it still has the high-grade titanium alloy face that adorns all the drivers in the Tsi family.

The Tsi2 has a nice 460CC head and feels nice and solid on impact. The launch angles are a little high for our liking and the spin rates were higher when compared to the TSi4 driver.

Compared to the PXG 0811 though, the TSi2 produced lower ball flight.

In terms of distance, the faster swing speed testers in our party were getting 274 yards on average with the TSi2 driver.

PXG 0811 Driver Overview

The PXG 0811 driver is nearly infinitely adjustable. There’s a total of 16 detachable weights on it so you can shape your launch pretty much any way you want.

Our testers were getting towering drives and low, piercing shot trajectories with this driver depending on how the weights were oriented. Like the TSi2 the PXG 0811 also features an adjustable hosel.

The PXG 0811 also features a titanium face so feel was very comparable between these 2 drivers.

The PXG 0811 family includes the 0811LX driver which has an extremely low center of gravity. This driver has the highest launch in the family – although it comes with 10 detachable weights instead of 16.

The distance between the PXG 0811 and the TSi2 driver was also comparable. On average, our fast swing speed testers were getting 276 yards out of the PXG 0811 driver.

Spin rates were a little higher with the PXG 0811 than the TSi2 which is what makes the PXG 0811 a little shorter overall.

The feel of these drivers can’t be denied. When you pure them, they give off a deep, satisfying thud. The TSi2 will allow better players to land where they want to on the fairway while the PXG 0811 does a great job of providing versatility off the tee.

PXG 0811 Driver First Impressions

At first glance, we could see that the shape of the 0811 driver face was unique. It was deep (or tall depending on how you want to put it) and made for excellent spin ratio.

Right off the bat, the PXG 0811 driver played long. It worked to dramatically reduce spin off the tee and produced high-arcing shots.

Carry distance was also impressive. To say that this driver played long would be an understatement. Still, for all the distance, the 0811 driver is surprisingly forgiving.

PXG claims that by using a robotic face polishing process, they were able to add a slight curvature to the face. This may be what enhances the spin correction at impact and the forgiveness of this driver.

The 0811 Family

The 0811 driver family also includes the 0811 X Proto driver. The X Proto is the more forgiving driver but it does produce significantly more spin than the standard 0811.

Titleist Tsi2 First Impressions

At first, the Titleist Tsi2 doesn’t look like much. But it’s a driver that has to be swung to be believed.

One of the things that really helps bump this driver up a few points is the adjustable hosel.

It is no secret in the golf world that the majority of tour pros that aren’t sponsored are using Titleist and it is the majority of the winners too.

The Tsi2 provides an excellent blend of forgiveness, feel and distance to take your game to the next level.

This customization of loft and lie angles adds instant value to this driver.

However, it’s the feel of this driver at impact that really steals the show.

The Tsi Family

The Titleist Tsi2 is the most ofrgiving driver in the Tsi fanily which also includes the Tsi1, Tsi3 and Tsi4. The Tsi4 is for lower handicap players and features a 425cc head.

PXG 0811 Driver  – Who is it for?

This driver would be a good choice for anyone who is looking for a combination of distance and feel.

The minimal spin of this driver can’t be denied. The deep face works in conjunction with the low, back weighting to produce high-arcing shots that carry further.

This is also a surprisingly long driver for PXG. The sloped crown will help if you have a downward attack on your drives.

Of course, the PXG 0811 feels excellent. But we would expect nothing less from a PXG club.

The Titleist Tsi2 would be best for low to mid handicappers who want a great-feeling driver.

While some workability is lost in the architecture of the face and size of the head, there’s no denying the awesome feel and reaction of the face.

The forgiveness is there too. You will find that the Tsi2 will still yield impressive distance on shots around the sweet spot.
