Titleist 910 D2 Driver Vs Titleist 910 D3 Driver – Which is Better?

The Titleist 910 drivers aren’t exactly fresh faces on the golf gear scene.

They are over a decade old now and have convincingly been supplanted by the TS and TSi series of drivers.

But older also means cheaper so if you are looking for a Titleist driver for a bargain price, the Titleist 910 drivers have probably been on your radar.

Still, just because a driver has the Titlelist name on it doesn’t mean that it will be right for you.

Especially in the Titleist 910 series, there are very different drivers that were built to do very different things.

Today, we will be helping you decipher the subtle differences between the Titleist 910 D2 and the Titleist 910 D3 driver specifically.

Titleist 910 D2 Driver Overview

So there isn’t a ton of adjustability here. However, the SureFit adjustable hosel does provide players a wide variety of loft and lie options.

In fact, there are 16 unique loft/lie combinations that allow for a moderate degree of shot shapeability; but a whole lot of control over launch angles.

However, an adjustable launch is very old and frankly boring news by today’s standards. What stands out more about this driver is the forgiving shape.

Looking at the Titleist 910 D2 behind the ball, you will see that it has a very round, symmetrical and forgiving-looking profile.

The head has a 460cc volume and the face sits ever so slightly open at address.

This is a very good look if you’re a high handicapper. Our testers noted that it was very easy to swing the Titleist 910 D2 despite the fact that it is slightly heavier than modern Titleist drivers.

The sound at impact is loud whether you make contact with the sweet spot or not. Naturally, the Titleist 910 D2 wants to launch high and yields moderate to high spin rates.

The flight can be tweaked down with the adjustable hosel; but there isn’t much that can be done about the spin.

Faster swingers will surely lose distance to the spin on this driver.

But for higher handicappers with slower swing speeds, the Titleist 910 D2 should look very inviting and launch high enough to improve carry distance.

Titleist 910 D3 Driver Overview

The Titleist 910 D3 bears a 445cc head volume so it looks much smaller behind the ball. Still, it retains the almost perfectly symmetrical head shape of the Titleist 910 D2.

The Titleist 910 D3 features a sloped, thinned out crown to make it lighter. Indeed, the Titleist 910 D3 driver felt lighter and a bit more manageable than the D2 during testing.

The launch monitor numbers further evidenced that feeling. Most of our testers were getting better club head speed with the Titleist 910 D3 driver than the D2.

But, as you can imagine, the enhanced club head speed came at the cost of forgiveness. It was harder to make consistent contact with the sweet spot of the Titleist 910 D3 than the D2 driver.

The Titleist 910 D2 was the lower-spinning driver though. Sidespin was all but eliminated so most of our drives were finding the heart of the fairway.

And with the increased rollout, our total distance with the Titleist 910 D3 tended to be better than with the Titleist 910 D2 driver.
