Taylormade SIM2 Vs Callaway Paradym Driver Comparison Overview

Taylormade SIM2 Vs Callaway Paradym Driver

When the Taylormade SIM2 driver first came out, it was hailed as one of the best game improvement drivers in the market.

Almost everything about the SIM2 driver was built to forgiveness and distance specifications.

Flash forward to 2023 and we have the Callaway Paradym – a driver that utilizes possibly more carbon fiber in its design than any previous driver.

We wanted to see which is the better game improvement driver so we went out and tested them side-by-side.

Taylormade SIM2 Driver Overview

“The technology and features that went into the SIM2 driver seem dated by today’s standards.”

But that doesn’t mean that Taylormade didn’t hit it out of the park with the SIM2 driver.

The features and tech may be dated; but it’s clear from our testing that they still have something to offer mid and high handicap players.

The 16 gram steel weight placed at the end of the head really helps to promote forgiveness on mis-hits.

Our testers also mentioned that the SIM2 felt really powerful and explosive at the moment of impact.

There is also a weight in the sole of the club which works in conjunction with the forged aluminum chassis ring to lower CG.

Launch was high, low-face shots were forgiven thanks to the speed pocket and our testers were averaging 233.6 yards after three swings apiece.

Callaway Paradym Driver Overview

“The new Callaway Paradym driver features an all-carbon sole and crown.”

In fact, the carbon fiber on the sole of this driver has actually been forged. We’re not sure how you forge carbon fiber; but it does seem to help lighten the club head.

The Callaway Paradym feels noticeably lighter than the SIM2 driver even with the 15-gram sliding rear weight.

The Callaway Paradym also features a forged titanium face that plays incredibly hot. Both the Callaway Paradym and the SIM2 drivers have 460cc heads so they look nice and forgiving at address.

Our testers were averaging 238.5 yards with the Callaway Paradym driver.

“The SIM2 driver is still more forgiving. The Twist Face technology promotes higher launch on mis-hits and the extreme rear weight makes more of the face the sweet spot.

However, the lower spin and faster club head speed that our testers were getting from the Callaway Paradym made it play longer. So it really depends on what you need more of: distance or forgiveness.”

Sim 2 Driver – First Impressions

The first thing you notice about this driver is the large and the attractive, colorful design with advanced features popping out of every crevice in the driver.

The club is surprisingly light and the sweet spot is so big, you cant imagine hitting anything but a straight shot.

If slices are a problem for you in your game, the Max D version is almost guaranteed to iron that out of your game and if you want to opt for a more playable driver with extra distance the Sim is perfect. For us the Sim Max was a happy in between to hit.

The ultra thin steel face is speed injected for maximum distance and the Sim 2 is among the longest drivers in the game right now, but the thru slot speed pocket is also amazing at increasing the size of the sweet spot when hit low on the face.

The forged ring construction and carbon fiber sole delivers some of the fastest swing speeds in the game today.

It also has the inertia generator for higher MOI and split mass weighting, including a 16g steel weight and the back of the club for an incredible, long accurate and forgiving driver, used by some the world’s best players including Dustin Johnson.

Callaway Paradym Driver – First Impressions

“The Blue colored full carbon chassis of the Callaway Paradym really grew on us as the round wore on, espeically due to the exceptional forgiveness from the clubs Ai enhanced face”

The Ai enhancement of the forged titanium face ensures that the ball is going straight from almost any area across it.

It is also big and inviting in the Paradym and Paradym X models.

The Triple diamond is more compact and will offer tour players longer distance and more workability in the 2023 season.

The Face Cup Technology wraps around the face to extend the forgiveness even further and enhance the flex across the face.

The Ai Jailbreak speedbar technology is still on offer but it is reduced to a single bar again with two prons at the bottom. This offers enhanced ballspeeds and increased stability.

The 360 Degree Carbon chassis is a first in the industry and offers unrivalled weight savings which are then redistributed to enhance the ball speeds on offer.

Overall these clubs are longer, more forgiving and feel better than their predecessors.

The only problem is the premium price tag that comes with them which is close to $700 or £600.

Callaway Paradym Family

The Paradym has an adjustable 15g slot that can be adjusted to suit your swing style.

It offers mid level spin and superb distance. Were getting around 10 yards further the Rogue ST Driver from 2022.

For someone that tends to draw the ball a little bit, the Paradym X was drawing a bit much for my liking but it will definitely suit a slicer.

It is the highest launching, highest spinning model with the shortest distance.

It is probably worth sacrificing that extra distance to actually land on the Fairway more consistently.

Expect to see the Paradym Triple Diamond extensively on tour this year, while some Tour Pros will prefer the regular Paradym.

The Diamond version has a 450cc head, and adjustable weighting. It offers stronger lofts, the most distance and the lowest launch angle.

Who is the Callaway Paradym Driver for?

“The 3 Paradym drivers on offer from Callaway have enough firepower to suit every type of golfer possible.”

While the draw bias X version was a little too draw bias for us. Some players who don’t slice the ball have found it incredibly straight. It launches high and it is the most forgiving by far. Slightly less distance than the regular Paradym.

The regular Paradym will be the best choice for almost all players. It has an adjustable 15g weight on the back that will suit and shot type.

This one is jam packed with the latest ai technology and carbon body. We found it 10 yards longer and more forgiving than the 2022 model.

The triple diamond is going to be limited to the best strikers in the game.

We were spraying this one left and right but when we did catch it flush, it flew for miles.

Overall a very impressive if not slightly expensive set of drivers.
