Ping G425 Vs. Ping i525 Irons Comparison Overview

Ping are a company whose production line has slowed due to the effects of the pandemic but have released a couple of new irons in 2021 (G425, i59) and 1 new release for 2022, the i525.

Both of these irons have a lot in common and you can see from their view how they are crafted by engineers rather than marketers.

The i525 are player distance iron with compact blade, a player profile and impressive distance.

The G425 is an advanced game improvement iron that is all about towering distance, forgiveness and consistency for high to mid handicappers.

Ping G425 Irons Overview

In a world full of bulky game improvement irons, Ping have delivered an iron with awesome distance, towering launch and ample forgivness in a more compact blade for high to mid handicappers.

The Ping G425 has a lot of the same technology as the i525 with the Tungsten Perimeter weighting and flexible hinge in the back of the club adding forgiveness and ball speed.

Whereas the head of the i525 is a hollow body design, the G425 has a multi material badge filling the cavity in these more forgiving irons. It helps to dampen any unwanted vibrations and it gives the club a nicer sound and feel.

The thinner topline makes them appealing at address for a high handicapper who makes to take a small step forward in terms of playability, you should be able to control these irons pretty well around the greens.

The high launch also give the G425’s good stopping power on the greens with longer irons as well without giving as much control as the i525’s.

The face is thin, responsive and has variable face thickness alongside a lower COG for better shots when hit low on the face.

Ping i525 Irons Overview

The i525 will attract the games better players with sleek profile, thin top line and compact blade. It also produces awesome distance, feels great, has stopping power and is quite forgiving.

This is a hollow body players distance iron from Ping, aimed towards low to mid handicappers who want more distance from an attract players, body shape.

There is plenty to write home about these irons, the posess 4 extra grooves in the blade to add stopping power around the greens and more control with the long irons.

The irons are thicker than the i59’s, released in 2021 , and they are more forgiving which will cater to mid handicappers more readily but any quality golfer looking for this blend of distance, forgiveness and feel.

The tungsten weighted screw in toe allows for custom builds and when coupled with the weight in the shaft, strecthes the size of the sweet spot.

The face is 14-7 miraging steel and this dynamic body shape allows the club to perform so well with what is know as Ballisticface. Behind the face is strategically injected EAV polymer which soothes any vibrations and gives the clubs a lovely look and feel.

These are a big hit from Ping, their only release of 2022 and a long awaited upgrade on the i500.

Overall we find a lot of the same technologies in the G425’s and the i525 and the main differences we see are that the heads are more compact and the profile more players friendly in the i525.

The G425’s are more forgiving for high to mid handicappers and the i525’s are going to suit mid to low handicappers and even some of the best players with the players profile and impressive distance.
