Ping G425 Vs. Taylormade M2 Driver Comparison Overview

Ping G425 Driver Overview
The Ping G425 does a great job of combining versatility, feel and distance into one driver.
It starts with a sweet T9S forged titanium face and continues on with a 8-1-1 titanium body. This combination makes for an incredibly sold-feeling driver while at the same time, stabilizing the head for all kinds of impacts.
Our testers really loved the movable weight on the G425 which can be set in the draw, neutral or fade positions. This allowed for a high degree of shot shaping and was just fun in general. The distance you get with this driver is also considerable.
While it may not be as long as the Ping G425 LST with it’s lower spin rates, the G425 driver was still sending drives an average of 280 yards down the fairway.
Taylormade M2 Driver Overview
The Taylormade M2 driver also uses titanium to enhance the feel and increase stability.
For a driver that is considerably more stripped down than the Ping G425, it keeps up surprisingly well in terms of distance. Our testers were getting average drives of 273 yards with the Taylormade M2. Spin rates are comparable to the Ping G425 as well.
However, the Taylormade M2 is not as forgiving as say the M4 driver and it lacks the distance that the M6 has. Instead, it would appear that Taylormade emphasized straighter shots and a more solid feel with the Taylormade M2 driver.
The Taylormade M2 also comes with an adjustable loft sleeve which can be set to 12 different positions. This was a great asset when fine shot-shaping was needed.
The Ping G425 driver will do more for you in terms of distance while the Taylormade M2 will do more to naturally straighten out your shot. The Taylormade M2 also sounds a bit more satisfying than the G425.

Taylormade M2 First Impressions
The first thing we noticed about the Taylormade M2 driver was how light it felt and how well it cut through the air on the downswing.
This driver will feel really good for anyone with a slower swing speed. It cuts through the air like a dream and delivers smooth, buttery contact when you pure it.
The M Family
The M2 is joined by the M6 and M4 drivers. The M6 more closely resembles the SIM drivers from Taylormade as it has an even more pronounced rear weight. The M4 is a bit more subtle but does have a more satisfying sound and feel than both the M2 and M6.
Ping G425 Drivers – First Impressions
The Club is pretty understated in it’s design, it’s all black with some white logo writing and you can immediately notice the adjustable weighting in the back that can iron out any inherent flaws in your swing.
The weight on the back is tungsten and weighs 26g, the ultra light internal dragon fly crown allows for more weight in the back and face which is a forged insert, delivering incredible ball speed and accuracy.
The head is packing huge MOI of over 10,000, and it incorprates and ultralight hosel insert and internal ribbing for unrivalled feel, forgiveness and competitive distance.

The Taylormade M2 is definitely more for beginners and high handicappers.
If you are looking for help getting your swing speed up or are having trouble staying on the fairway, the Taylormade M2 would be a better choice for you. It’s lightweight, produces very straight shots and yields good ball speed even when you hit out near the toe.
