Callaway Rogue Vs. Taylormade M2 Driver Comparison Overview
Taylormade and Callaway have been in constant competition with each other seemingly forever. They both have avid fans because both are known for producing some of the finest golf clubs on the market.
Today we are going to be taking a look at a couple of their drivers. The Callaway Rogue and the Taylormade M2 drivers are similar in some key respects. But which will be better for your game? Which manufacturer is best in this case? Find out in the following article.
Callaway Rogue Driver Overview
The Callaway Rogue is an older Callaway model but it still packs a punch from the tee.
While distance is considerable with the Callaway Rogue driver, the real star of the show is the enhanced forgiveness that still keeps pace with newer Callaway drivers. The carbon crown of the Rogue driver keeps things nice and light for the low CG weighting.
The Callaway Rogue also features Callaway’s famed Variable Face Thickness technology. This is mainly where the Rogue gets it’s forgiveness. We were noticing faster ball speeds than normal on shots that made impact closer to the crown and sole.
Of course, if you hit the generous sweet spot, you can expect average drive distances of about 280 yards, making the Callaway Rogue an exceptionally long driver even when compared to latter Callaway models.
Taylormade M2 Driver Overview
The Taylormade M2 driver doesn’t play as long as the Rogue but it does a better job of keeping spin rates down.
Side spin was noticeably lower with the Taylormade M2 as opposed to the Rogue driver. However, that didn’t make much of a difference in terms of distance. The Taylormade M2 was yielding distances of about 271 yards on average.
What we did like about the Taylormade M2 driver though was the fact that it was very easy to get straight shots out of it. The face flexes well and does a good job of correcting shots hit out near the toe or inward toward the heel.
At least in the case of this comparison, Callaway wins the day. The Rogue driver produces longer drives and is generally more forgiving than the Taylormade M2 driver.
While the Rogue fails to produce as nice a sound as the Taylormade M2 on impact, we feel that is more of a periphery bonus as opposed to something essential to performance.

Taylormade M2 First Impressions
The first thing we noticed about the Taylormade M2 driver was how light it felt and how well it cut through the air on the downswing.
This driver will feel really good for anyone with a slower swing speed. It cuts through the air like a dream and delivers smooth, buttery contact when you pure it.
The M Family
The M2 is joined by the M6 and M4 drivers. The M6 more closely resembles the SIM drivers from Taylormade as it has an even more pronounced rear weight. The M4 is a bit more subtle but does have a more satisfying sound and feel than both the M2 and M6.
Callaway Rogue Driver – First Impressions
At first, the Callaway Rogue has a massive head and sweet spot. The club was actually designed by Boeing so you expect serious aerodynamics with this one.
The Rogue was also very lightweight. The triaxial carbon crown feels airy but the head still feels substantial at impact thanks to the strong perimeter weighting.
The driver has a super thin face but is also variable thickness which adds to the forgiveness of the driver.
Perimeter weighting in the sole and the heel of the club stretches the sweet spot and the Rogue is one driver that does a lot in terms of forgiveness, accuracy and distance.
If you struggle with a slice, the Rogue also comes in a D style which is more offset to reduce errant strikes.
The Sub Zero form is also for those with high swings speeds looking for maximum distance.
The Rogue doesn’t go as far as the Epic Speed, but the forgiveness is comparable.

Who is the Taylormade M2 Driver for?
The Taylormade M2 is definitely more for beginners and high handicappers.
If you are looking for help getting your swing speed up or are having trouble staying on the fairway, the Taylormade M2 would be a better choice for you. It’s lightweight, produces very straight shots and yields good ball speed even when you hit out near the toe.

Callaway Rogue – Who Are They For?
The Callaway Rogue driver would be a good choice for anyone who has grown comfortable with perimeter weighting.
We like the fact that the VFT face design couples nicely with the perimeter weighting. This combo makes for a very comfortable and forgiving driver.
However, the Rogue driver did not play as long as the Epic Speed which is pretty much what we predicted when we started out.
We were getting about 8-9 extra yards from the Epic Speed.
Still, the Rogue’s got it where it counts: good stability from the Jailbreak bars and a decent degree of forgiveness.
Surprisingly, it was also more workable than the Epic Speed
Callaway Rogue Family
The Rogue D Type is for the slicers among us. The is offset, giving the club a draw bias which can work to eliminate your slice.
The Sub Zero, leaves some of the forgiveness behind and it aimed at high swing speeds with good control over the driver, looking to squeeze more distance off the tee.
