Cobra Speedzone Vs Taylormade Sim Drivers Comparison And Review 2021

It seems like a lifetime ago that Taylormade introduced the SIM series of drivers – mainly because they have become a household name for golfers since their release in January 2020. The SIM driver was a rousing success with both pros and amateurs.

In fact, it pretty much overshadowed the release of the Cobra Speedzone driver which was released at almost exactly the same time in January of 2020.

Still, you shouldn’t undersell the Speedzone. In the following review, we are going to be comparing these two drivers to see which one really is the best.

Sim Drivers Overview

The SIM driver has been a stable in the bags of pros ever since it’s release. It’s packed with distance and forgiveness features.

Taylormade went all out when they made the SIM driver. They wanted to create a driver that did a little bit of everything; distance, forgiveness and shapeability.

The SIM driver comes in 8, 9 and 10.5 degrees of loft and features the revolutionary twist face.

The twist face is a curvature that allows for better flex around the perimeter of the face. This equates to more distance even when you miss the center.

That coupled with the asymmetric inertia generator in the sole help increase forgiveness and distance.

To top it all off, the Taylormade SIM driver features a heel to toe sliding weight that offers up to -/+20 yards of draw or fade bias.

Of course, the center position would be neutral.

Cobra Speedzone Driver Overview

The Cobra Speedzone does a lot of the same things as the Taylormade SIM just in a different way.

To increase forgiveness across the face, Cobra utilized a CNC milled construction. The CNC architecture stretches the milled part to cover almost all of the face.

In fact, the Cobra Speedzone produces really great ball speeds on off-center shots.

The Speedzone driver is actually lighter than the Taylormade SIM driver thanks to a full carbon fiber crown.

To help reduce spin from the tee, Cobra also put 69 grams of weight low and in the rear of the head of the Speedzone.

While The Sim driver family is undoubtedly one of the best made and technically advanced line in the game for players of all levels, the Cobra Speed Zone is all highly revered in the golfing community.

The Speedzone is also $100 cheaper and also packs a serious punch off the tee.

At first, you may be a little intimidated with all the apparent bells and whistles of the Taylormade SIM.

We’re not going to sugarcoat it: the first time you pick up a Taylormade SIM driver you will probably notice the weight right away.

With a swing weight of D5 with a graphite shaft, this driver is a bit intimidating at first.

However, after you take the first swing and feel how the inertia generator effortlessly pulls the CG downward, you will be hooked.

There is the standard SIM, the SIM Max and the SIM Max D Driver. All feature the twist face but the standard SIM is the only one with a movable weight.

On the other end of the spectrum is the Cobra Speedzone which feels light in the hands as soon as you pick it up. We were really impressed from the feel and feedback of this driver.
