Callaway Mavrik Vs Cobra Speedzone Drivers Comparison And Review 2021

The Cobra Speedzone driver affords players the ability to shape their shots with an adjustable front-to-back weight and an adjustable hosel. The Callaway Mavrik also has an adjustable hosel to tweak lie angles but comes with no adjustable weight.

Does this hurt the Mavrik? Does the adjustable hosel and weight combo destabilize the Speedzone driver? Find out the answer to these questions and more in the following comparison overview.

Callaway Mavrik Driver Overview

The Callaway Mavrik driver is a great choice for high to mid handicappers who want to produce straighter shots with less spin.

We liked that the Flash Face ripples of the Callaway Mavrik really did help to reduce side spin making it a solid distance driver for players who already have decent swing speeds. Our shots were flying pretty straight with this driver as well.

The stability you get from the internal bracing bars also serve to straighten the lie of your shots. The feel of the face was nice too. It’s made of a special titanium that not only flexes to a high degree; it also creates a solid feel at contact.

The Mavrik does lack an adjustable weight but we liked the high launch angles we were getting from the low-back CG. This is a solid driver if you want to find the fairway easier.

Cobra Speedzone Driver Overview

The Cobra Speedzone adds forgiveness to the distance factor.

The Cobra Speedzone driver features a “wrap-around” face that has been milled. The milling process thins more of the face out for higher flex at more points. This is a good and bad thing. It’s good because you get more flex across the face.

It’s bad because it’s harder to stabilize shots and get straight flight. While Cobra touts the optimized T-Bar chassis of the Speedzone driver which is supposed to add stability, it doesn’t do as well of a job at it as the Jailbreak bars of the Callaway Mavrik.

The results are somewhat wild and unpredictable shots if you are not dead-center. The top weight can be adjusted from front to back depending how much spin you want which is nice when you need to work the ball a certain way.

We would recommend the Callaway Mavrik driver for beginners and high handicappers while the Cobra Speedzone would be better for advanced players who don’t have much trouble hitting the sweet spot.

Two internal jailbreak bars on under side of the club hold everything together by connecting the sole with the crown and adding extra stability, feel, consistency and distance. The shape of the driver is also aerodynamic and like everything with the clubs, focused on more swing speed.
