Cobra Speedzone Vs Taylormade Sim 2 Comparison And Review 2021

The Taylormade SIM 2 and Cobra Speedzone drivers have some similarities. For instance, they both are tuned to deliver low spin off the tee for better distance.

They would both also be an asset in the bag of high to mid handicappers.

But which one is better overall? Which driver offers benefits outside of distance? Find out in the following comparison overview.

Cobra Speedzone Driver Overview

The Cobra Speedzone feels light in the hands but there is weight all over the place in strategic locations in the head and face.

First of all, the Cobra Speedzone driver features an adjustable weight that can be moved from the back of the head to the front.

We liked the weight in the front the best because this positioning produced low flight trajectories and incredibly low spin rates.

The result was a piercing ball speed. In fact, the Cobra Speedzone driver was bout 4 yards longer on average than the Taylormade SIM 2 – and that’s really saying something because the Taylormade SIM 2 plays long as well.

We also really liked the feel of the Cobra Speedzone. It has a milled face that essentially feeds into the head. It gave great feedback and still yielded good distance on shots that hit towards the crown and the sole.

Taylormade SIM 2 Driver Overview

The Taylormade SIM 2 is loaded with features that help with distance and forgiveness. However, this driver is lacking a bit in terms of workability.

Like the Cobra Speedzone, the Taylormade SIM 2 features a front-weighting that helps to reduce spin off the tee.

We were also getting similar launch angles. The Taylormade SIM 2 didn’t have as nice a feel as the Speedzone driver though.

There were also some issues with shot shaping – namely that we were unable to work the ball very much with this driver.

It comes with an adjustable hosel but in general, it was pretty ineffectual for precise ball placement.

The Taylormade SIM 2 is a good distance driver and would work well for beginners and high-handicappers all the same.

The Cobra Speedzone will afford you more performance as your game gets better. It will definitely be the better choice if you are looking for a driver that will grow with you as your game advances.

Still the Taylormade SIM 2 isn’t a bad choice if you’re looking for forgiveness and distance.

Speedzone Driver – First Impressions

“The Cobra Speedzone doesn’t look like much at first, but it will quickly win you over with it’s superior feel and forgiveness.”

On the other end of the spectrum is the Cobra Speedzone which feels light in the hands as soon as you pick it up. We were really impressed from the feel and feedback of this driver.

It provides good forgiveness with perimeter weighting inside the head at the left and right corners of the face and at the rear of the head.

The Speedzone Family

Cobra also makes the Speedzone Xtreme driver which is more forgiving with an oversized face profile.

Sim 2 Driver – First Impressions

The first thing you notice about this driver is the large and the attractive, colorful design with advanced features popping out of every crevice in the driver.

The club is surprisingly light and the sweet spot is so big, you cant imagine hitting anything but a straight shot.

If slices are a problem for you in your game, the Max D version is almost guaranteed to iron that out of your game and if you want to opt for a more playable driver with extra distance the Sim is perfect. For us the Sim Max was a happy in between to hit.

The ultra thin steel face is speed injected for maximum distance and the Sim 2 is among the longest drivers in the game right now, but the thru slot speed pocket is also amazing at increasing the size of the sweet spot when hit low on the face.

The forged ring construction and carbon fiber sole delivers some of the fastest swing speeds in the game today.

It also has the inertia generator for higher MOI and split mass weighting, including a 16g steel weight and the back of the club for an incredible, long accurate and forgiving driver, used by some the world’s best players including Dustin Johnson.

The Cobra Speedzone are more for low handicap players with faster swing speeds.

You won’t get much in the way of distance from the Cobra Speedzone driver if you don’t have a good swing speed.

That being said, the Speedzone driver is accurate, generates great ball speed away from the sweet spot and feels amazing at impact

There’s also an adjustable weight that you can move to alter from forward CG to rear CG.

Cobra Speedzone Xtreme Driver

The Cobra Speeedzone Xtreme is a model that is more forgiving and consistent for high handicappers and players who generally struggle off the tee.
