Callaway AI Smoke Driver Vs Paradym Comparison Overview
Today we will be taking a look at the differences between the Callaway Paraydym Ai Smoke Max and 2023’s standard Paradym driver.
Another year and more aggressive claims being made for the upgrade to Callaway’s flagship driver, let’s find out if it lives up to the hype.
Callaway Paradym Driver Overview
“The original Paradym is also a 460cc driver with 9, 10.5 and 12 degree models.”
And, like the Callaway Paraydym Ai Smoke, it also has a sliding CG weight and carbon fiber body. But the stock shafts for this driver come from Project X HZRDUS, Aldila and Fujikura.
The stock shafts on the Callaway Paraydym Ai Smoke come from MCA Tensei and Project X Cypher.
The Paradym driver was solid in it’s own right, but it wasn’t the longest and most forgiving driver of 2023 for us and it didn’t make it into our bag.
With that being said, we were super interested in whether the Ai Smoke could build on the foundation set by the Paradym.
Callaway Ai Smoke Driver Overview
“The Callaway Paraydym Ai Smoke Max features a 460cc head and is available in 9, 10.5 and 12 degree models.”
The Callaway Paraydym Ai Smoke has an upgraded Ai face. Instead of the face cup technology that was a staple of Callaway clubs for about a decade, we now have the Ai Smart Face which is essentially a variable thickness face on steroids.
The carbon fiber head and the titanium support brace is also 15% lighter than the original Paradym driver.
Overall
“While similar in many ways, the Callaway Paraydym Ai Smoke offers a lighter, faster swing experience and a boost in distance.”
The Ai Smoke looks a lot better in the bag and it added 5 yards on average to our stroke.
Where it really came into its own was on the off center shots which were considerably longer than the Paradym, especially when caught on the toe. This is in part due to the AI-enhanced face but also the more solid internal structure.
Overall the Ai Smoke marks a pretty solid improvement over its predecessor.
Callaway Paradym Driver – First Impressions
“The Blue colored full carbon chassis of the Callaway Paradym really grew on us as the round wore on, espeically due to the exceptional forgiveness from the clubs Ai enhanced face”
The Ai enhancement of the forged titanium face ensures that the ball is going straight from almost any area across it.
It is also big and inviting in the Paradym and Paradym X models.
The Triple diamond is more compact and will offer tour players longer distance and more workability in the 2023 season.
The Face Cup Technology wraps around the face to extend the forgiveness even further and enhance the flex across the face.
The Ai Jailbreak speedbar technology is still on offer but it is reduced to a single bar again with two prons at the bottom. This offers enhanced ballspeeds and increased stability.
The 360 Degree Carbon chassis is a first in the industry and offers unrivalled weight savings which are then redistributed to enhance the ball speeds on offer.
Overall these clubs are longer, more forgiving and feel better than their predecessors.
The only problem is the premium price tag that comes with them which is close to $700 or £600.
Callaway Paradym Family
The Paradym has an adjustable 15g slot that can be adjusted to suit your swing style.
It offers mid level spin and superb distance. Were getting around 10 yards further the Rogue ST Driver from 2022.
For someone that tends to draw the ball a little bit, the Paradym X was drawing a bit much for my liking but it will definitely suit a slicer.
It is the highest launching, highest spinning model with the shortest distance.
It is probably worth sacrificing that extra distance to actually land on the Fairway more consistently.
Expect to see the Paradym Triple Diamond extensively on tour this year, while some Tour Pros will prefer the regular Paradym.
The Diamond version has a 450cc head, and adjustable weighting. It offers stronger lofts, the most distance and the lowest launch angle.

In 20 Words or Less
“Callaway Paradym Ai Smoke Max has better speed across the face and a more solid internal frame. A Big Upgrade.”
Callaway Paradym Ai Smoke Max Driver – First Impressions
“The Callaway Paradym Ai Smoke Max was instantly light and fast.”
I fell into a groove with it pretty quickly and found that I could use the entire expanse of the face and still find the fairway.
In fact, I had to work pretty hard to hit the ball heavy or thin enough to produce a significant decrease in ball speed.
The launch was pretty much where I like it: in the 10.5-12 degree window. And I found that I could work it just a bit lower or higher without much effort.
The performance of the Callaway Paradym Ai Smoke Max has me really excited about what the entire Callaway Paradym Ai Smoke line and how to technology carries over between the range.

Who is the Callaway Paradym Driver for?
“The 3 Paradym drivers on offer from Callaway have enough firepower to suit every type of golfer possible.”
While the draw bias X version was a little too draw bias for us. Some players who don’t slice the ball have found it incredibly straight. It launches high and it is the most forgiving by far. Slightly less distance than the regular Paradym.
The regular Paradym will be the best choice for almost all players. It has an adjustable 15g weight on the back that will suit and shot type.
This one is jam packed with the latest ai technology and carbon body. We found it 10 yards longer and more forgiving than the 2022 model.
The triple diamond is going to be limited to the best strikers in the game.
We were spraying this one left and right but when we did catch it flush, it flew for miles.
Overall a very impressive if not slightly expensive set of drivers.
Distance: 97/100
Accuracy: 95/100
Forgiveness: 96/100
