Callaway Paradym Driver Review 2023 – Longest & Straightest Driver From Callaway

Another new year is upon us and that means another new set of drivers have arrived on the scene from the games top brands.

Callaway has answered the call with a premium-priced set of drivers that are among the longest and straightest that we have ever tested.

In terms of looks, it is more understated than the red faced Stealth drivers from Taylormade but the Blue forged carbon looks do grow on you quite quickly.

It has a 360 degree Carbon chassis which is made by compressing pieces of carbon into one solid block, offering significant weight savings.

Of course, Callaway make some big claims about the drivers including:

  • 30% tighter dispersion rates on the Forgiving models.
  • 15 Yards of Adjustability on the Paradym driver.

The Callaway Paradym Driver Family

“The Callaway Paradym comes in 3 flavours. The Paradym for most golfers, the Paradym X for Forgiveness and Draw Bias, and the Triple Diamond for the most consistent strikers.

The  Callaway Paradym Driver

  • Available Lofts: 9.0, 10.5, 12 Degrees
  • Adjustability: Sliding 15g Weight

This is going to be the best for most golfers. It has mid-low spin rates and it has an adjustable sliding weight of 15 g which can ensure the club is perfect for your swing and shot shape.

The Paradym X

  • Available Lofts: 9.0, 10.5, 12 Degrees
  • Adjustability: Sliding 5g Back Weight

This has a big draw bias. If you are someone that slices, this is going to be an option. It is also the most forgiving and is confidence inspiring at address.

You may be surprised to find that this driver suits your game even if you are a mid to low handicap, it is incredibly easy to hit straight.

There is also a 5g Weight that can be placed in the front or back. Not as long as the regular Paradym and has low levels of spin.

The Paradym Triple Diamond

  • Available Lofts: 8.0, 9.0, 10.5 Degrees
  • Adjustability: 2g Front Weight, 14g Back Weight

The Triple Diamond possesses a smaller 450cc head and is built for the Tour player who likes to control the ball.

It has the lowest launch and lowest spin.

It is also the longest but it’s also much less forgiving than the other models.

It comes with interchangeable 14g and 2g weights that sit at the front and the year.

Key Features:

360 Degree Carbon Chassis

The main innovation in the clubs comes from the industry first, 360º Forged Carbon middle section which is backed by Titanium at the front and the year.

The whole middle section of the club is Carbon now, which has never been done before and leads to a significant weight reduction of up to 20gs to be used elsewhere in the club.

AI Tech Forged Titanium Face

The role of Ai has again been enhanced in the face of the Paradym drivers.

The forged Titanium face has been designed to keep the ball straight and moving with speed even on mishits and we found, especially the X version to be almost impossible to hit poorly.

Callaway are calling this club face the most advanced in the game and they will hope to keep their popularity on tour going with these models.

A.I Jailbreak Technology

A little bar sits behind the thin face to produce even more explosive ball speeds.

While we had 2 bars with the Rogue ST models, the Paradym moves back to a single bar, two-pronged at the bottom, which AI says will provide the most stability and speed transfer between club and ball.

The thinking behind 1 bar is again weight reduction which can be placed further back in the club for even more distance.

Forged Face Cup Technology:

The Forged Cup Face technology finally makes it into a Callaway driver. It was previously used in Irons, hybrids and metalwoods.

This refers to the perimeter of the face and the thin titanium face works with the technology to improve the flex of the club and ensures maximum forgiveness and distance.

Our overall first impressions are improved distance, straighter shots on mis-hits and a better feel. Let’s dive in further.

Is it Good for High Handicappers?

The Paradym and the Paradym X are going to be excellent for high handicappers.

That is, once they don’t mind forking out the $700 price tag that it comes with.

If you really struggle to keep the ball straight, the X model could be perfect.

It is confidence inspiring and incredibly forgiving.

A high handicapper may be better off getting a used driver for a fraction of the price.

Available Shafts

  • Aldila Ascent PL Blue 40 Graphite – Light
  • Project X Hzrdus Gen 4 Silver 50 Graphite – Regular – Stiff
  • Project X Hzrdus Gen 4 Silver 60 Graphite – Stiff
  • Project X Hzrdus Gen 4 Black 60 Graphite – Stiff – X Stiff
  • Fujikura VEentus TR Blue 6 Graphite – Stiff – X Stiff

Is the Callaway Paradym Worth it?

“The Callaway Paradym Drivers are among the best we have ever tested in terms of forgiveness and ball speed. They also command a premium price.”

Is this a necessary purchase for someone starting out in the game, no? A second-hand driver will do the job for a lot less.

If you have some money to invest and you want the best and latest technology, this is it.

With a model to suit everybody’s needs and has impressive performance across the range with more distance and better feel than the Rogue St Max.

It’s a little bit dull when struck low on the face but besides that, we were very impressed with this driver.

Expect to see this driver work its way into a lot of bags on tour in 2023.

Callaway Paradym Driver

In 20 Words or Less

Coming in 3 flavors to suit all golfers, this has a forged Carbon body that delivers substantial weight savings. Ai for supreme distance and forgiveness.

Callaway Paradym Driver – First Impressions

“The Blue colored full carbon chassis of the Callaway Paradym really grew on us as the round wore on, espeically due to the exceptional forgiveness from the clubs Ai enhanced face”

The Ai enhancement of the forged titanium face ensures that the ball is going straight from almost any area across it.

It is also big and inviting in the Paradym and Paradym X models.

The Triple diamond is more compact and will offer tour players longer distance and more workability in the 2023 season.

The Face Cup Technology wraps around the face to extend the forgiveness even further and enhance the flex across the face.

The Ai Jailbreak speedbar technology is still on offer but it is reduced to a single bar again with two prons at the bottom. This offers enhanced ballspeeds and increased stability.

The 360 Degree Carbon chassis is a first in the industry and offers unrivalled weight savings which are then redistributed to enhance the ball speeds on offer.

Overall these clubs are longer, more forgiving and feel better than their predecessors.

The only problem is the premium price tag that comes with them which is close to $700 or £600.

Callaway Paradym Family

The Paradym has an adjustable 15g slot that can be adjusted to suit your swing style.

It offers mid level spin and superb distance. Were getting around 10 yards further the Rogue ST Driver from 2022.

For someone that tends to draw the ball a little bit, the Paradym X was drawing a bit much for my liking but it will definitely suit a slicer.

It is the highest launching, highest spinning model with the shortest distance.

It is probably worth sacrificing that extra distance to actually land on the Fairway more consistently.

Expect to see the Paradym Triple Diamond extensively on tour this year, while some Tour Pros will prefer the regular Paradym.

The Diamond version has a 450cc head, and adjustable weighting. It offers stronger lofts, the most distance and the lowest launch angle.

Callaway Paradym Selling Points

  • 15% Tighter Downrange Dispersion
  • More Distance
  • The face is extremely forgiving
  • Triple Diamond plays hot
  • Plenty of adjustable weighting
  • X version is great for a slice.

Who is the Callaway Paradym Driver for?

“The 3 Paradym drivers on offer from Callaway have enough firepower to suit every type of golfer possible.”

While the draw bias X version was a little too draw bias for us. Some players who don’t slice the ball have found it incredibly straight. It launches high and it is the most forgiving by far. Slightly less distance than the regular Paradym.

The regular Paradym will be the best choice for almost all players. It has an adjustable 15g weight on the back that will suit and shot type.

This one is jam packed with the latest ai technology and carbon body. We found it 10 yards longer and more forgiving than the 2022 model.

The triple diamond is going to be limited to the best strikers in the game.

We were spraying this one left and right but when we did catch it flush, it flew for miles.

Overall a very impressive if not slightly expensive set of drivers.

Distance: 97/100

Accuracy: 95/100

Forgiveness: 96/100

Feel & Control: 94/100

Overall Score:  96/100
