Tour Edge Hot Launch E521 Irons Overview

So yes, they look very chunky at address. Compared to the Tour Edge Hot Launch E522’s the Tour Edge Hot Launch E521’s have thicker toplines.

The faces of the Tour Edge Hot Launch E521’s are also shallower so that the launch is actually even easier.

Like the Tour Edge Hot Launch E522’s the Tour Edge Hot Launch E521’s have a hollow body design that allows for a hotter, more active face.

There is only heel weighting in the Tour Edge Hot Launch E521 irons though so you get a draw bias out of them: perfect if you tend to slice the ball.

The soles of these hybrid irons are very wide. The purpose for this design is to reduce turf interaction. If you tend to chunk it, that will still be a problem with these irons.

But so long as you are moderately accurate, you will get a pretty launch almost every time. Of course, there is plenty of offset to help beginners and high handicappers close up the face at impact.

Overall, it was very easy to get straight, high flight out of these irons. Toe-side mis-hits tended to be erratic; but that was really the only part of the face that was inconsistent.

Are the Tour Edge Hot Launch E521 Irons Forgiving?

Yes, they look like shovels at address. Even in the bag, you can tell that these aren’t traditional irons. But if forgiveness is what you’re after, bigger really is better.

One of the things that we really liked about these irons is that they allowed us to nimbly navigate narrow fairways.

It gave our high handicap testers a lot more confidence and the results were tangible: they were producing shots that stayed out of the trees on a consistent basis.

It’s very easy to square the face at impact with these irons thanks to the offset and heel weighting.

The turf interaction was generally smooth but chunking was still an issue for some of our testers.

They produce a low-pitched thud when pured and that sound doesn’t change much when you mis-hit. As you can imagine, launch and spin rates are high.

These irons will  be good for anyone with a slower tempo because the high launch will likely increase carry distance for these types of players.

Would the Tour Edge Hot Launch E521 Irons Be Good for High Handicappers?
