Titleist TSR4 Driver Review 2023 – Who is This Low Spin Driver for?
“The new Titleist TSR4 driver has the clean, sleek look of a classic Titleist club; but its features and design give it a very specific performance profile.”
The TSR Driver Family
“While the Titleist TSR4 driver is geared towards better players who want maximum drive distance, Titleist also released the TSR2 and the TSR3 drivers.”
It should be noted that the Titleist TSR4 is actually the only driver in the TSR family to sport a 430cc head – the other drivers in this line are all 460cc drivers. The Titleist TSR3 is a wonderfully adjustable driver that will give you more power right where you make contact.
The Titleist TSR2 is sort of a combination of the TSR4 and TSR3. The Titleist TSR2 affords the player exceptionally high launch angles while also keeping spin at a minimum. The Titleist TSR2 is the most forgiving driver in the TSR line.
Is it Good for High Handicappers?
“While the Titleist TSR4 was designed with mid to low handicappers in mind, upon testing it, we found that it does still have something to offer high handicappers.”
One of the things that our testers noticed almost immediately was an increase in club head speed. The Titleist TSR4 is designed aerodynamically with clean lines and a lightweight design. For high handicappers, this means an increase in club head speed and most likely, a subsequent increase in ball speed.
The Titleist TSR4 is a 430cc driver though so you will have to be somewhat accurate. There are 2 weight positions to choose from: the front weight which practically kills spin and a rear weight. The rear weight position does help reduce spin; but it is certainly the more forgiving position.
Overall, the Titleist TSR4 isn’t the most beneficial driver if you’re a high handicappers. Still, we reckon that even high handicappers will notice improved ball speed and distance with this driver.
Is it Forgiving?
“Another key feature is the variable face thickness design.”
Again, you will need to be at least somewhat accurate but the variable thickness face of the Titleist TSR4 does a great job of preserving ball speed on errant shots. Our testers also noticed that the Titleist TSR4 is incredibly consistent across the face – not surprising considering that this is a Titleist club.
Shot dispersion was exceptionally tight and repeatable distances were right on the money. The Titleist TSR4 certainly isn’t the most forgiving driver of the new TSR line; but it makes up for it in other ways.
If you struggle with accuracy, you likely won’t reap the distance benefits that this driver brings to the table. It will be tricky for higher handicap players to get the hang of this driver with its smaller hitting area. However, any player should notch faster swing and ball speeds.
Difference Between the Titleist TSR4 and TSi1
“Unlike the Titleist TSR4 which comes in 8, 9 and 10 degrees of loft, the Titleist TSi1 is available in 9, 10 and 12 degrees of loft.”
Compared to the Titleist TSR4, the TSi1 yields high launch angles, The TSi1 also produces higher spin rates than the Titleist TSR4. At the end of the day, the TSi1 is a better driver for higher handicap players or players that don’t have a fast swing speed.

Is the Titleist TSR4 Driver Worth it?
“If you are looking for a premium driver that will help you drive the ball further, then absolutely.”
We’ll be the first to admit that the Titleist TSR4 is not the most beginner-friendly club in the world; but it has classic Titleist design that you just can’t replicate. Overall the Titleist TSR4 feels amazing, sounds extremely satisfying and will meet your long game demands if you’re looking for a lower, more piercing launch.
If you are a beginner or high handicapper, the Titleist TSR4 probably isn’t worth the premium price (just around $600); but if you have a bit more experience and want a driver that you can stick with for many seasons, the Titleist TSR4 is definitely worth the investment.

Titleist TSR4 Driver – First Impressions
“Our first impression of the Titleist TSR4 was that it was light and looked fantastic.”
The 430cc head will certainly please more experienced players at address. And you can’t help but notice how light this driver feels even with a stiff shaft. When you swing the Titleist TSR4, you will also probably notice an increase in club head speed. While the face isn’t made of the most premium material, Titleist kept the overall weight of the Titleist TSR4 driver down with a thin crown and compact design.
The adjustable hosel gives you a wealth of CG and launch options during fitting. But most of all, our impression of the Titleist TSR4 was that it was certainly a Titleist club. You can feel and hear the precision that went into the design. Almost everything about this driver screams “premium.”
The TSR Family
The Titleist TSR2 is likely the TSR driver that will benefit you most if you are a high handicapper. The Titleist TSR3 is a good driver if you are looking for maximum adjustability and versatility.
