Titleist TS2 Hybrid Review – Is it Forgiving for High Handicappers?
“Titleist doesn’t mess around with their TS series of golf clubs.”
We have seen and tested our fair share of TS golf clubs from Titelist. Some of us still game the older TS woods.
But it’s always hard to tell what you’re going to get from a hybrid club – even from a company that is as consistent as Titleist.
The Titleist TS2 hybrid came out nearly four years ago and is a common site at our local club. So we wanted to get our hands on one to see what all the fuss is about.
Specifically, we wanted to see how suitable it would be for high handicap players. So let’s take a close look at the Titleist TS2 hybrid.
The Titleist TS Family of Hybrids
“The TS family of hybrids includes the Titleist TS3 and the Titleist TS2”
The Titleist TS3 Hybrid
- 19, 21, 23 and 25 degree loft versions available
- Pear-shaped head
The Titleist TS3 has a compact head design and a very thin face. This combination makes for good control and great carry distance.
The head is actually more compact than the Titleist TS2.
The Titleist TS2 Hybrid
- 17, 19, 21, 23, 25 and 27 degree loft versions available
- Rounded, symmetrical head
The Titleist TS2 is very forgiving and comes in a wide variety of lofts for players who may be thinking about replacing irons and woods.
It has the same thin face as the Titleist TS3 so it plays very hot.
In case you didn’t know the “TS” you see in the name of any Titleist Golf club stands for “Titleist Speed.”
Most of the features that went into the Titleist TS2 hybrid were intended to help you swing it faster. That begins with a thinned out crown to keep the weight in a manageable range.
The Titleist TS2 also features an adjustable tuning port in the sole.
This will allow your fitter to spec the Titleist TS2 hybrid up or down to match your ideal swing weight.
The Surefit hosel also allows fitters to instantly adjust loft and shot shape.
With the Titleist TS2 hybrid, you will be able to find the launch and face angle that perfectly suits your swing.
Is it Good for High Handicappers?
“In a word: yes. The Titleist TS2 is an amazingly forgiving Titleist hybrid.”
It was hard to find a section of the face that would yield strong left tendencies.
Usually, we were getting a nice little baby draw on all but our most severe, intentional mis-hits (at least, most of them were intentional).
The Titleist TS2 hybrid has a nice, rounded symmetrical head shape and a fairly deep face profile.
This is a combination that just looks forgiving at address and will help boost your confidence as a high handicapper.
More important than how it looks at address, the Titleist TS2 hybrid is certainly forgiving. Heel/toe and low-face mis-hits weren’t shanking like crazy.
Plus, it was very easy to make consistent contact. The Titleist TS2 hybrid also has a very thin face which produces good ball speeds in almost all sectors.
The sole has a curved design and doesn’t float over the turf as well as the flatter sole of the Titleist TS3.
However, this is something you can work out with a qualified fitter if you really want to.
Last but not least, the Titleist TS2 hybrid is high-launching. The CG is nice and low so it’s very easy to get under the ball and send it into the stratosphere.
Our launch angles and descent angles were nice and steep, making the Titleist TS2 hybrid a perfect candidate for long approaches.

the Titleist TS2 Hybrid Worth it?
“The Titleist TS2 hybrid is definitely worth it if you want a forgiving hybrid that will remain serviceable for many seasons to come.”
If you’re a high handicapper but still want premium sound and feel, the Titleist TS2 would definitely be a good investment.
Plus, it’s a Titleist club so you know it’s going to last for a long time.
It will provide you with the forgiveness you need as a high handicapper – and as long as you go to a reliable fitter, you can set this hybrid up to be a beast on the fairway.
