Titleist T250 Vs Ping i530 Irons

The Players Distance iron is a relatively new category that sits between the forgiveness and distance of a game improvement iron and the accuracy and control of a blade.

Two of the strongest contenders in this category are the i530’s from Ping and the new for 2025, T250’s from Titleist.

These irons are for mid handicappers who want a blade like look and feel while maintaining that power and distance of the more forgiving irons.

Titleist T250 Overview

The new Titleist T series was released in 2025 and the T200’s were upgraded so much that their new name has become the T250’s.

Gone is unpopular and cheap looking badge from the back of the club, replaced by a minimal, clean, blade like and super impressive design.

The entire T series now has a uniform design to encourage mixing and matching through the sets.

For instance a mid handicapper may use the more forgiving T350;s in the long irons and opt for the more player friendly T250’s in the mid to scoring irons and wedges.

Some PGA tour players have even taken the T250’s as their long irons. blended with the more player friendly T150’s and T100s in the shorter irons.

These irons offer, distance, consistency and a high launch while the entire series does a good job of generating a steeper descent angle which allows you to stop the ball on the greens, just a little steeper than the i530 too.

Really minimalist and clean look, we have tungsten in the heel and toe to stretch the sweet spot, we have a thin forged face on the two piece design with super soft urethane inside for premium feel.

We have Max Impact technology inside the head which allows for butter soft feel when flush put also increases the MOI for more forgiveness and consistency.

We also have progressive grooves which allow for more spin as we get to the shorter irons.

Overall, costly, but high performing and very consistent. The t250’s also come in a hgih launch version for players with slower swing speeds that need more help getting the ball in the air.

Ping i530 Irons Overview

The i530’s are a strong contender in the players distance iron category.

They go head to head with the P790’s and the T250’s in a packed category.

Ping offers, high ball flight, steep descent angles, power, consistency and forgiveness with the i530.

Looking at the design and we see the same minimalist set up with a two piece, hollow construction design, filled with soft urethane. We have the thin forged face too, to give us that soft feel.

We have the traditional Tungsten screw in the toe and more tungsten in the heel to spread the sweet spot.

We have the flexible hinge and the back too which increases the forgiveness.

Worth noting that Ping also employ the dot system, which adjusts the lie angle, great for taller and shorter players.

Overall Comparison

Here’s a breakdown of our testing and both irons are excellent contenders.

The T250’s offered a slightly higher launch, very similar distance, a steeper descent angle and higher spin rates, making them very hard to beat.

The Ping irons were very close in performance too, they are long, consistency, straight and with great stopping power on the greens.

The Ping irons do also sound a bit clicky.

The consistency of the Titleist irons was also slightly better.

For taller players, the ping dot system may come in handy.

For slow swing speeds, the T250 HL is a great choice.

For me, the T250’s are the better option for most golfers, if you can stomach the expensive price tag. Both excellent options.
