Titleist Pro V1X Vs. Callaway Supersoft Golf Balls Comparison Overview

When it’s time to pick a golf ball, it really helps to thoughtfully evaluate your game. For instance, how fast Is your swing speed? Do you need help with distance off the tee or are you looking for better spin control around the green?

Do you mainly go to the driving range or are you playing full rounds at your local club? And these considerations are just the beginning. To help you with the next steps towards finding the perfect golf ball for you, we have put together this helpful little comparison overview.

Titleist Pro V1X Golf Balls Overview

The Titleist Pro V1X golf balls are designed for players with fast swing speeds and performance from the tee to the pin.

Off the tee, you will have to have a swing speed of 100 MPH or more because the Titleist Pro V1X balls have a compression rating in the high 90’s. They feel solid off the tee if you have an adequate swing speed and create a low, piercing shot trajectory.

Off the deck, the soft urethane cover really gives you the feel you need to work the ball they way you need to on any given hole. The Titleist Pro V1X’s have a 4-piece cover which works well on long and short approaches when you need to lob the ball up or check it on a short chip.

The Titleist Pro V1X’s also feel really nice around and on the green. The urethane cover is very responsive and will provide a dynamic you need for every kind of shot.

Callaway Supersoft Golf Balls Overview

It should be mentioned first and foremost that the Callaway Supersoft balls are distance balls with a very low compression.

In fact, these balls are compression rated at 38 so they really love up to the Supersoft name. Off the tee, you can get distances well over 200 yards even if you have a swing speed below 95 MPH. These balls carry like a dream on drives.

The Supersoft balls launch really high and drop straight down so they are also really nice for getting out of the rough or landing dead on a fast green. The only downside is that you can’t control spin very well.

The Titleist Pro V1X’s are definitely for low handicap players while the Supersoft balls may benefit beginners more.

Performance Off the Tee

The better testers in our party were getting average drive distances of about 195 but they were topping out at 209!

The Titleist Pro V1X balls don’t produce much side spin off the tee which allowed for piercing trajectories that didn’t fly too high either.

Performance from the Rough

We were seeing low trajectory shots from the rough which is a good and bad thing.

It’s bad when you need to get over hazards but good for staying under trees and trying to avoid the wind.

Performance from the Fairway

We really liked the low, piercing trajectory of the Titleist Pro V1X balls with our long irons and hybrids.

Better players will be able to backspin these balls sublimely while being able to avoid low rises.

Performance Off the Tee

You could barely feel when you made contact with these balls.

That’s how soft they were. They also maintain an exceptionally straight flight which will work wonders for your slice

Performance from the Rough

The Callaway Supersoft balls performed surprisingly similar to the Titleist Velocity from the rough.

They launch really high so long as you are able to cut through the turf and they stop dead in place. Great for ball placement, not so great when there’s wind.

Performance from the Fairway

We liked the fact that the Supersoft balls maintained their straight flight with hybrids and irons from the deck.

As long as you have a clear path to the pin or fairway, these balls will serve you well.

Who are the Titleist Pro V1X Balls for?

The Titleist Pro V1X are certainly for low handicap players who want a combination of distance and short-game control.

Keep in mind that these balls have a ridiculously high compression which will surely affect the feel from tee to pin. If you have a good swing speed though, this should be no problem.

How are They With Short Irons?

We are extremely biased towards urethane as a ball cover material. Urethane gives you an unmatched feel and softness that really comes into play when you’re dealing with a ball as firm as the Titleist Pro V1X – especially with short irons.

You get to work the ball deftly with these balls thanks to the high compression core and urethane cover.

On the Green

The roll control is there with  these balls although we would say that they feel a bit dead off the putter face.

Overall Rating: 98/100
