Titleist GT3 Driver Review – How Good Is It & How Much Better?
Today we are looking at the latest, super adjustable model from the King of Metalwoods. Its the new GT3 Model from Titleist.
Let’s see whats new in the driver and how it compares to other models in this line up and how it has improved over the previous models as well.
Titleist GT3 Driver Overview – What’s New?
Adjustabilit is the name of the game with the GT3, just as it was with the TSR3 but when the mainly mid to low handicappers who use these drivers, get it dialed in perfectly, its hard to get it out of our hands.
New PMP Material
It’s not 50 Cent’s P.i.m.p, its the new Poprietary Matrix Polymer from Titleists R & D team that sees the brand finally move towards a Thermoforged carbon material in their drivers.
It wraps into the head seamlessly and the epoxy glue that holds it together is on the underneath of the club to lower the CG which also means less spin.
The new material is also more aerodynamic and we should see a slight increase in club head speed with the new GT3 over the TSR3.
Variable Face Technology Speed Ring
While the TSR3 had the Speed Ring and the TSR2 & 4 had the multi Plateau VFT, the new range from Titleist has the VFT Speed Ring technology which should increase the accuracy and tighten up the dispersion on off center hits.
Loft Adjustability
The sure fit hosel has 16 combinations for loft and lie so you can effectively perform your own fitting if you have a Trackman at home and a bunch of free time.
Obviously its best to get a fitting with Titleist to get the settings perfectly dialled in for your swing.
Weight Adjustability
There are 5 weight positions on the lower rear of the clubhead to optimise the ball flight perfectly for your swing.
The arrow that points to the current setting has also been improved from the TSR3.
You can also choose from a 8g, 4g and 14g weight to get the club perfectly dialled in.
A Titleist Sounding Driver
With modern drivers switching to carbon and sounding dull off the face, the GT3, just like the TSR3 sounds and feels amazing.
There is a distinct mettalic sound off the face of the driver that Titleist know and love and they will be happy to see that nothing has changed with the new range of drivers.
Titleist GT3 Driver Performance
When we got the GT3 dialed in for testing we were pleasantly surprised by the results.
The aerodynamics and reduced weight from the carbon crown led to 1mph increase in clubhead speed.
We were getting lower spin rates off the head too, tighter dispersion both in terms of distance and direction and a nice 3 to 7 yard increase in overall distance.
A very good driver overall, not wildly forgiving, but an absolute weapon in the right hands.

In 20 Words or Less
The GT3 introduces a seamless carbon crown and improved face forgiveness while still remaining perfectly adjustable with improved performance.
Titleist GT3 – First Impressions
“It looks very similar to the TSR3 with a few changes underneath the club like a visual dial for the weight position you are currently in.”
The Titleist GT3 is the king of adjustability, the surefit hosel design has 16 different loft and lie options to choose from. There is also 5 different weight placement option low and to the rear of the club with 5 different weight options, 4g, 8g and 14gs.
Titleist have brought in thermoformed Carbon with a properietary matrix polymer material, which brings the weight down, improves aerodynamics and lowers the center of gravity as Titleist have managed to put the binding glue on the bottom of the club.
The face has also improved with a Variable Face Technology speed ring face which maintains that premium Titleist sound and feel that their customers love while also providing slightly more forgiveness on off center hits.
There are plenty of stock shaft options to choose from too so if you want to use this driver, best to get a fitting and get the club perfectly dialed.
We found with the TSR3 and now the GT3 that when mid to low handicappers get these drivers dialed in, it’s a tough job getting them out of their hands.
Overall, the club performs well. Increased distance, lower spin and a tighter dispersion due to the extra forgiveness off the face.
